Headwind Media - CMI Exclusive MO Fee CMI Profiles Unauthorized Billing via Verizon Jupiter, Florida

Headwind Media subsidiary CMI Profiles put an unauthorized $20 recurring charge on my Verizon bill, via a billing company called HBS Billing Services.

I called HBS Billing -- the only number given on the Verizon bill -- and after the usual run around, was redirected to Headwind Media. The operator was quite helpful and agreed to reverse the charge and block all future billing to my phone bill. However, she was insistent that it was a genuine charge and the "someone must have entered it using my information". She said that the e-mail address on the entry form was a Yahoo address -- I stopped using it about 3 years ago because of the load of spam. She also gave me the IP address of the computer used to fill out the "application form". I checked on WHOIS and found the IP belonged to the Liz Claiborne Corp. Needless to say, neither I nor anyone I know has access to Liz Claiborne computers.

This is the third time in six months that my Verizon bill has included charges for services I never authorized, from companies that are obvious scammers.

When is law enforcement going to shut down these fraudulent companies?
When is Verizon going to stop allowing billing by these fake companies?
