i ordered country living for one year and paid my bill on time i got country living off and on then contact hearst corp. the mag. began to come again i paid for one year.i then got a bill for another year but did not order for the subscription. having to call new york after several other calls i finally got someone explained this and ask they did not turn this in to my credit as i do not now or ever want another product from hearst corporation again. this is an aggregation and time out of my day but felt the need to put this on this report because i am sure i am not the only one this happens to. i had no idea hearst need the money that bad. what a poor way to run a business. oh the letter can be a bit intimidating to some maybe so they may feel forced to renew.  this is so sad.

There is a reason that Hearst sends you a notice in the mail stating that your subscription has been automatically renewed, it was on the offer that you signed up for. I'm sure that is probably why you were signed up for an additional year. Regardless if you signed up on the magazine's website, through an offer that was mailed to you, or if you tore a card out of the magazine and sent it in, each and every offer clearly states that it is under the "Continuous Service Program" and then explains what it is and if you would like to opt out to call the number listed. A phone call. That is all a subscriber has to do to ensure they will only receive the one year they paid for. The company should not be at fault for a subscriber's lack of reading skills or otherwise. I realize some people may "forget" or just skimmed and missed the fine print, but come on. If you get a bill in the mail just call the company and get it straightened out with an actual person that is more than willing to help. A magazine company can in no way affect your credit as they have the tiniest amount of your personal information probably reaching as far as your name and address. Anybody can buy a magazine, and anyone can sign someone else up for a magazine if they wish and a person is in no way responsible if they didn't intend to subscribe. They don't have your social security number, therefore no affected credit. Next time, just give the company a call and have it explained better.
