Given my previous good experiences with HP printers I decided to buy another one to replace my old HP Deskjet. I bought a PSC 1350 despite the fact the "trouble" with the old one was that it was simply no longer supported by HP (ie no new driver) under Windows XP. I bought the PSC 1350 for a little over $100.

After using it for several months the cartridges were running low so I got two kits to refill them. That seemed to work for a while but now it doesnt work at all. Turns out HP has designed the cartridges to count ink droplets and when the counter has reached a certain number it indicates its empty. Doesnt matter if you've refilled it, the counter doesnt know that. Theres no way to reset this so your only option is to buy brand new cartridges. The cost of a new color and a new black cartridge is almost the cost of a whole new printer !

I find the forced purchasing of HP consumables, at way inflated prices, to be a ripoff! I'll buy some other brand of printer before I spend an other cent of HP products.

#4 Consumer Suggestion

Canon

AUTHOR: Nicole - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, April 08, 2006

Just a suggestion: I use Canon printers and I have had mine for four months, no problems AND they take any ink. I purchase my color ink for $13.99 and black ink is $7.99. I know it doesn't help with HP, but in the future you may consider Canon, at least then you can decide if you want to use Canon ink or not. And my printer wasn't too badly priced either. I paid a little under $100 and its a printer/copier/scanner and has a digital media slot for my camera's card. With HP you are probably just screwed, unfortunatly. They don't care anymore, its sad.

All Printer Companies Have A Mafia Strangle Hold On Consumers - We Need A Class Action Investigation!

AUTHOR: Pete - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, April 08, 2006

The ink these companies use cost pennies. They rape us 500%+ on the ink. I am a computer technician, and I know that they keep charging more for ink, and putting less ink in their replacement cartriges.

If we did not have such a crooked government that was being paid off by such companies to look the other way, we might not have to donate a kidney just to print a 8'x 10' photo out on our printers.

I bought re-fill ink from Pacific Ink, and it ruined my printer. I mailed the printer back to them, and they 'lost' it (more like they destroyed it to hide the evidence that they ruined my printer).

They make these dang printers so that thet will only work on their ink. This is the biggest rip off of all.

we should all complain to out Attorney General about this ripoff.

I am thinking of getting a petition going about this, who is with me?
