I purchased a Hitachi 51 inch television in May of 03 with a 5 year extended warranty.
May 2006 the TV started to blink, so I called for service. Service was setup and I was to be called back for scheduling.
Two week pass no phone call. I get in touch with the service provider. He does not have the required tools to service/diagnose this type set.
Call back to GE (HHGregg's no-service provider) another service is set up. A week passes no call for scheduling. I call the service provider they have declined the service call due to being out of their area.
Back to GE they will have to research to get a provider. (I live 30 miles from Metro Atlanta) Two week pass with repeated phone calls to the supervisor at GE without them being returned. Finally special arrangements are made with service provider number two above to make the call.
Repairman comes out cannot diagnose the problem set need to go to the shop.
Next day set goes to shop.
Three week later no set, I call TV shop. Shop is waiting on parts. How long before the parts arrive, I ask? We will have to research that and get back to you.
Three days pass. I call them back. Parts are on back order with no estimated time of arrival.
My set is now in the shop for 30 days. I call GE, yet another supervisor tells me they will have to research the situation.
No phone call back. I call again, yet another supervisor tells me there technical researcher has been out ill and is backed up. He is the only one who can make a decision to replace the set.
Wonders never cease, the supervisor calls me back two days later, they have found the parts at another vendor and will have them to the TV shop in three days.
5 days later my set is still not fixed. 1 of the parts required is still on back order with no ETA.
BOTTOM LINE - I HAVE BEEN WITHOUT MY SET FOR OVER 6 WEEK AND HAVE BEEN DEALING WITH THIS FOR OVER 2 MONTHS. THIS IS WITHOUT QUESTION THE WORST CONSUMER SERVICE I HAVE EVER BEEN A PART OF. STAY AWAY FROM HH GREGG AND GE.
