Homeq Servicing illegal foreclosure on home Sacromento California

Both my parents are disabled. In 1998 they were forced to take a loan out on their home to pay medical bills due to their failing health and to help with home repairs that were desperately needed. Each month my mother paid her mortgage, maintained homeowners insurance and paid their property taxes. In 2001 their mortgage was assigned to a company called HomeQ. Almost immediately they began having problems with this company.

HomeQ claimed that the homeowners insurance had been canceled. The insurance company faxed payment records three times for this policy to HomeQ.

Without authorization HomeQ put all mortgage payments sent to them into an escrow account for insurance and taxes that had already been paid. Without our knowledge the mortgage payment was extremely delinquent. In November 2007 they began foreclosure proceedings.

I feel my Mother and Father have been taken advantage of in this situation. I have receipts for all mortgage, insurance and tax payments that have been made.
Unfortunately when HomeQ foreclosed on this property my parents were not able to attend because of my Father being in surgery for a hip replacement. At this point we are lost on what to do or who to contact. We would greatly appreciate any help or advise you could give in this matter. Thank you for your time and effort.
