Homestyle Trust, Inc. Grant Offer for $39,000 - Real Check for $4960 New York New York

My story is the same as others who have filed reports on this company. I got a very convincing letter telling me I won a grant for $39,000 and a real check for almost 5K. They ask in the letter to call to activate the check and use the money to pay off the taxes on the money won. I contacted the two business also listed on the check to verify the authenticity of this grant: FWS/R&J Furniture Sales and the bank M&T Bank. (They both have websites.) Within minutes I got a response from FWS telling me that is was indeed a scam and to fax all information to Federal Law Enforcement 716-874-0480.

This letter and check look so LEGIT! I was already counting the ways I was going to spend my grant. I'm glad I took the time to look into it further and verify sources.

Since I have never been involved in something like this, I am curious to know how it would have played out had I cashed the check.
