In the early part of December 2014, my husband and I found a listing on puppyfind.com posted by Lori Hoover @ Hoover Acres stating that she had Pure Breed Cane Corso puppies for sale. After my husband and I made our decision to move forward we reached out to her over the phone and began the process for purchasing our pup Goliath. After a few weeks of waiting he was ready for pick up Jan 15th, 2015. Excited as we could ever be to bring home our baby (as I was not able to have any more children) life for us was bright. We couldn’t have been happier. My husband arrived at a location set by Lori to get our pup. As she stated her husband would be right out with him, he came flying up behind my husband’s truck with Goliath, he (Goliath) was in the back of a pickup truck with a chicken wire built cage, filthy and smelling like he came from a hog farm. [continued below]....

..... He was covered in feces. After getting our pup home, we observed quickly that he was ill. He had very bloody stools. I called Lori immediately and she insisted that we did something wrong, as she claimed that Goliath was fine while he was there. Being that it was 10 p.m. we called the animal hospital after hours number and were granted an appointment.

At this appointment, we found quickly that Goliath was sick with Giardia. After telling Lori about this she insisted that he got it elsewhere than from her. Well truth is that yeah, he may have because Lori Hoover is not the breeder. She has set herself up as the middle person for the real breeder, whom if which may I kindly state was already shut down and in trouble for ill practices, in humane conditions etc. So, when she states that she is not the breeder she is telling the truth, the only truth she does tell. However she won’t tell you this when she is taking your money, she will pronounce herself as the breeder when collecting payment but to hear her say that she is not the breeder, she will only tell you this once you bring heat on to her. She is the enabler for the puppy mill. She insisted after I called her from the vet’s office that she would give a refund if we would like and return Goliath to her or swap out Goliath for another pup. Well at that time, that wasn’t the option for us.

In all honesty, it does not matter if your pup is in your home 5 minutes or 15 years your heart is attached in ways most don’t understand. So needless to say, after Goliath was feeling better we started his regular vet care and during the first few visits the vet suggested that we do a thorough work up on him to make sure that there is nothing else seeing that he did come from such deplorable conditions. That is when we had got news that made our hearts sink and jaws drop. Our sweet little boy was born with only 1 full lung and 1/2 of the other, he had absolutely no left hip and his appendix was holding air. The vet advised us that we should consider our options for him.

We discussed a possible hip surgery at $5-10,000.00 Adding glucosamine supplements into his diet to promote the muscle growth however we were told this would only be temporary and that he will need to be on pain meds the rest of his life. We did everything that we could to keep him comfortable but shortly after his 2nd birthday he started having breathing problems, He would gasp for air from time to time. We did all that we could for Goliath until June 24th, 2017 when the time came to end his suffering. We had the vet’s office run a full battery of blood work on him including genetic DNA testing. As it comes with no Surprise to us our “Pure Breed Cane Corso” is not really that… The genetic testing came back to show that Goliath was Neapolitan Mastiff, Rottweiler, Cane Corso and mixed breeds.  We have X-rays and test results to prove every single ounce of this information. Along with this let me be so kind to advise you that we begged Lori for months to send us the paperwork for the dog, ICCF papers etc. and what we received in the mail was a Scanned and printed copy of a “sample pup” registration. Completely fake paperwork none the less. She is a fraud in every form of the definition. I beg you to reconsider any thoughts that you have in regards to this puppy mill, as it will leave you in sheer heartache. She knows very well what she is doing, but the power of greed for money has wiped out her ability to put an end to this.

AUTHOR: Michael & Mary - (United States)

Hmm, TWO responses on the same day from you.. Interestingly enough, what you claim to recall, and what has been documented tend to be two different things.  Lets start from the beginning. I’ll help you with your facts that you either lost, misplaced or made up out of thin air.

My name is Michael.  Remember me, I’m the truck driver you attempted to negotiate to transport your pups across the US for a starting rate of $100 then as I started saying no thanks more and more often your offer increased up to $350 per pup.  I declined all your offers because there are rules and regulations that you may not understand. The best example I can provide you is this, if you fly with your pet.  You must have original documentation of records, shots, etc for that pet to be transported across the US via airplane. It is no different by semi truck via USDA, and the DOT.  If you need more information you are welcome to contact the FMCSA and they will be more than happy to assist you in better understanding.  Be sure to ask them, how does a person transport a pup, dog, animal for delivery due to it being sold, and what is considered original documentation.. Be sure to note, that does not mean, copies, samples, or some made up crap paperwork.

Now lets start from the beginning, again.. From the beginning my wife and I were looking to find a full blooded Cane Corso. My wife, unable to have more children and myself had always wanted a full blooded Cane Corso since I first discovered what they are, were, they’re history, etc back in the 90’s.  We searched and we searched, and then we found an ad on puppyfind dot com.  We were nervous, and hesitant for so many reasons including that we didn’t want a pup from a puppy mill. We didn’t want a pup that was older then 6 mo old, and overall we didn’t want to support any breeder with unmoral intentions. After our searching, and the good game that Lori tossed our direction. We decided to make a deposit.  From this point forward, this is how the life of a puppy named Goliath goes.

My wife and I did contact you (“Lori Hoover”) about obtaining a FULL Blooded 100% Cane Corso Pup in which we gave you a deposit.  During this time frame, all the way up to about the date of actual picking up the pup.  We called, you answered, we emailed, you responded.  Now remember this portion is all prior to picking up the pup.

Once payment was made in full, I received our pup. Not from a VAN as you mention.  From the back of a PICK UP Truck where the pup that was to be ours, resided inside of a pen made out of 2x4’s and chicken wire. The pick up did not have a bed cap, liner, or anything to keep the pup out of the cold while parked on the side of a highway. Given I was driving a 10 car auto carrier (semi). I do not believe, after doing a bit of research that I was anywhere near your actual residence as you proclaimed that I was.  Also, every time I asked the man about seeing the kennels, the parents before leaving with the pup, he attempted to change the topic, become a little shifty.  I also do not believe the man that transported the pup to me, to have been your husband.  But I had our pup that smelled of something fierce, something I only recall every time I would visit my great uncles hog farm in MI. Do you understand how bad something has to smell in order for you to be able to taste it? Do you even comprehend how terrible something smells if it takes you 5 hours with a wet vac and a full day of leaving your windows and doors open on your vehicle plus toss in about a dozen deodorizers just to be able to NOT taste the stench that was coming from this pup you sold us.  Maybe you don’t, maybe your taste buds don’t work after all the bull-**** you talk. Once we had possession of our puppy. Our ability to correspond with you completely vanished do to your inability to respond. You can write on here all day till your blue in the face with numerous post about how you did etc when the only thing you ever did after the pup was paid in full. You returned our email attempts and phone calls 1 single time. That 1 single time was after our pup arriving home. That 1 single time was long after our pup spraying butt juice mixed with blood from his rear all over our house.  That 1 single time that you responded to our communication efforts was much much farther and beyond any time frame of vet visits, more vet visits, more issues more things. Now this is where your famous for wanting to chime in a say that blah blah could not have come from your affiliates.  Though what you fail to mention normally is the amount of time that it takes for this very particular disease to go from being caught by the pup to being displayed via noticeable infection of the pup. You received phone calls, emails about everything every time we had a issue.  Not till a considerable amount of time has passed did you finally grace us with that 1 single response that you stated “oh there is no way that pup could of got that from blah blah, only thing I could suggest is try this or that to help prevent it yap yap. “  Pup replacement? Nope not offered, and to be honest, if you would have offered it, we would of declined that offer.  What upsets me the most about all of this.  Is that YOU are promoting the ability for children to lose what they find to be they’re best friends.  Though I’ll continue more on that subject further down..  Let’s continue on, your invalid fact timeline. However, every time we attempted to contact you we provided the details you state here as missing.  Also you tend to say the same exact things on many other rip off reports as well.. Coincidence, or are you just that use to tossing the same bs line over and over.

Guardian houses? I know nothing of the sort.  From what I understand from the USDA BOAH, PETA, HSUS, NLECAA and ASPCA and a couple of others. Is that you are not a Breeder of any sort. Your not licensed, your not a lot of things.  Though you may be trying to be a self proclaimed unlicensed broker. This would be the best way to describe what your doing, even though brokers still need licenses.. tisk tisk. What you consider a “guardian house” is more likely a amish farm maybe 45 min way rather than the 20 you proclaim.  It may even be not just one amish farmer in on this with you as well.. Yep my wife and I did some homework a while back after we had to put our puppy to sleep.

You did see the XRay. Wow, how’d you see it. Since WE did provide you with all the information to that but you couldn’t locate any of the vet info or dogs name or nothing like that right? Oddly enough we finally hear about a response for that almost 2 years later. Did you misplace it somewhere between then and now? Good thing we uploaded the img’s for those XRays. We did not provide contact info for the XRays here on ripoff report just so we are clear. DNA Test, you asked for info on that? Really when? I ask this because you did not mention this once, but twice in two posts. I find this to be a strange request since we never, not once attempted to reach out to you in regards to the DNA results. The only place this information was ever spoken about, or mentioned was here in our original post. So tell me again, how did this asking us for this go considering my wife and I didn’t at any point talk or think about a DNA test till the day we took our pup to the vet to have his suffering ended. Plus, since the posting of our original post, you have not attempted to contact us regarding our original post till your response posted on here. Not at any time have you reached out to us to any of this. Here I’ll read you the DNA test results. First a bit of info, provided by The Royal Canin Genetic Health Analysis, who have done over 17 million iterations and has typed over 12,000 dogs to determine the most likely combination of breeds that our pup was.. Pretty intense right, 17 million.. wow.. Our pup that was sold to us as a PURE blood 100% cane corso, is actually a breakdown of the DNA for our pup Goliath: 12.5% Rotweiller, 12.5% UNKNOWN MIX breed, 37.5% Neo Mastiff, 37.5% Cane Corso.. Hmm not 100% Pure Blooded Cane Corso as you advertised originally or stated as being in your responses. This is considered a practice called “bait and switch” which is against the law here in the USA. Statue of limitations also has not ran out as of yet fyi.  Also, it took you the better portion of a year to respond to our original post. Almost an entire year has passed since our original post date and your first of two responses you provided in the same day. Check the dates for yourself.  This is your customer service basic normal procedures at their best.  Its proven here, its proven in the past when we attempted to contact you, its proven on various other rip off reports, and other websites in which reports were filed against you regarding you and your practices. You proclaim yourself to be some type of business woman from the statements that you make. Yet it takes you almost a year to respond. It takes you months to respond to a customer that paid in full, to receive documentation on which you proclaimed you had for immediate delivery, which was anything but immediate.  Yet you proclaim on every single report made on you and your affiliates, that the customer is unreasonable in one manner or another. That the issues that all of these different people have on all of these different reports are not from the handling of yourself or your affiliates.  Yet you provide ZERO original documentation to prove such on every single rebuttle you chime in on.  You say others are pure blood yap yap.. Maybe the ICCF does not know you are selling mutts, maybe other agencies do not know they should require a DNA Blood test in order for the pup to be registered with them. Maybe people do not know it is possible for them to obtain a DNA report of any pet they have. Since people (your customers) want to believe that what you tell them is correct, even when you know it is not.

The ICCF paperwork, the shot record, the lots of things you provided months after our original attempts of trying to contact you due to having an unhealthy puppy are either fakes, or forgeries that you provided.  They are also shot documentions that occurred to soon, or to irregular. That were most likely administered by you. Since when we called the vet that you proclaimed to be the vet, they had NO RECORD of providing our pup with any services under any name the pup was known as or owned by. Further more, most likely if the pup actually did receive any vaccinations from you, the vaccinations themselves were most likely stored improperly.  I could say more on this, however moving along.  I’m going to upload a ton of more things we have just the so the readers of this, can see for themselves. Since I care little for what Lori “Hoover” has to say from this point forward, since Lori Hoover and her affiliates will provide zero proof of anything they state because most things they state are false. From this point forward, I invite the public to make they’re own opinions of, if they would buy anything from Lori (if that’s her real name even). Attached you will find numerous reports, DNA, lots of things that will better help assist you.  When finding your special little buddy, friend, pet, fury family member. Do some solid research, go to the site of the pups in person prior to purchase. Insist on being in person. If you get the run around. Take it for what its worth..

Do not end up like us. Broken hearted, teary eyed, trying to explain to 3 small children and a young teenager why they’re fun fury best friend that would catch the fastest ball you could throw at him with only his mouth, isn’t coming back home.  Try explaining to them, 6,7, 9 and 14 years old. That your puppy that you’ve had in your home for less than a year and a couple months is so sick because of things you know you want to tell them (air in appendix, under developed and underformed hip, lung, etc came from etc so and so) and look in they’re eyes. They don’t know what any of that means, all they know is that you said “he’s going to a better place” when to children any place they are, you are and your pets are, IS the best place.  “Lori Hoover” in my opinion takes advantage of people by knowing that once you are emotionally attached to your puppy, that you may do what ever it takes to “save” your puppy. And the worse thing you could ever hear is “send your pup back, we’ll DISPOSE of it and give you a new pup”. As she proclaims in the above.  Once you have your puppy, once your attached. At that point, she can find the next victim, and while she awaits for the next victim to contact her. Those people she mistreated, people she scammed into a bait and switch will only throw up a ripoff report, she’ll come on here talking her repeated replies from one report to another.  She does this because she knows that most have no clue on where or who to report her to. It’s time to band together, its time to take action. Its time to end the cruelity in which “Lori Hoover” and the likes take they’re profit from.

Help us save the tears of children and save the lives of baby animals that deserve better.

“Lori Hoover” the last thing I will say to you is this. Goliath was the missing link in our family. He braught us together.  Gave us some tough moments, some hearted moments and some hilarious moments. But as we remember him for who he was while he was with us. You will remember him for the legal actions that occur from this point forward.

Getting the facts straight!

AUTHOR: Lori - (United States)

The real facts are not quite as you described.  First of all you picked up your pup from me in Indiana and drove your pup to Arizona and that would be very possible that your pup could have got it along the way and you did not actually contact me about it until nearly 2 weeks later.  I did not receive an initial vet visit report with in 72 hours or even a week for that matter per our health guarantee.

I am a breeder of the Cane Corso pups and I have a guardian home that I work closely with this other family so we literally raise the litter together.  My husband did in fact show up with your pup from the guardian home but you are seriously trying to fabricate stories when you say your pup was "covered in feces" and that the "chicken wire cage was filthy and smelling like a hog farm"  The pin in fact is not made of chicken wire but actually a well designed cage built for transporting puppies and made so that if a pup used the bathroom during transport then the matter would fall through and not get on the pup.  The guardian home is less then 20 minutes from my home so worse case the pup did have a bowel movement during the 20 minutes but surely not covered in feces and possibly the van could have smelled because of that but lets not over exagerate.

I did get a phone call about some of the things you claimed and I asked for the vets number and also for any documentation that you might have reguarding any of the findings you stated your vet found.  I did see an e-ray at some point but no where on the e-ray did it have the vets name, number, your name or info and in fact it didnt have any info on it at all.  Your husband also called and was very irrate because I wanted the vets info and more info about the findings.  To this day I still have not received any of your vets findings or info supporting your claim. As a breeder and a business woman, I need proof of the things you are stating in order to procede with a replacement pup, refund or any type of compensation.  It is only the correct way to handle an issue or extraordinary issues that you state your vet found.  I also asked for the info about the DNA test that you stated was done and again not proof or results were ever sent.  Most of the Corso adults were later entered into the AKC program under the open enrollment period and later DNA tested and found to be good with no issues meaning full blooded.

I do remember offering another pup, provided we get proof of the vets findings, because if any or part of this info your were telling me was true then I know it would be devastating to go through something like that when the pup was such a young age.  It was very simple...provide documentation so we could speak about a possible solution.  But to this day that has never happened.  Instead you chose to take your thoughts on a forum like this and not just simply provide the docmentation.

I did send you the ICCF registration paper for your pup which was the blue half sheet of paper and the "sample pup" you are talking about is the pedigree for the parents and I sent that along since I had it.  Nothing Fake or fraudulent about it at all.  The guardian home that I work with is not or was never "in trouble" for ill practices or for anything.  Just because I live in Indiana doesnt mean I am associated with any of the people you find on the internet.

I am NOT in any way greedy.  I just asked that you send the proper paperwork in order for me to proceed with a claim.  It is not unreasonable for me to ask of proof.
