On November 21, 2016 I purchased a pair of $79 Hoverkicks as a Christmas gift for my 10 year old daughter. On Christmas Day, December 25th, I contacted Hoverkicks to inquiry about an exchange for a larger size. I informed the company of my situation, that the sneakers were never worn, and then received a response saying that my return request was denied because it was not within the 15 day return policy. Several other emails were sent to the company, again explaining the situation, but only received generic responses back reminding me of the return policy. I tried calling the company's listed number (212-244-0240) several times over the last two months (to the day), but could never reach a live person. Aside from the fact that this is terrible customer service, my daughter is out of a Christmas gift that was #1 on her list. I am fully on board with paying a restocking fee, but I would like to be able to exchange for the proper size. And the fact that I cannot correspond or speak with a live customer service representative is inexcusable.

Rebuttal Response

AUTHOR: - ()

POSTED: Wednesday, January 25, 2017

Dear Concerned Consumer, Thank you for taking the time to troll the complaint boards and respond on behalf of Hoverkicks.com. No where in my original complaint did I mention that I was price shopping, and looking for the lowest priced option for LED sneakers. My complaint has more to do with the company's complete lack of customer service than it does with the price of the sneakers, or the quality. I appreciate your concern about my personal shopping habits, and hope that you spend as much time doing good in YOUR local community as you put into responding to random consumer complaints. Thank you.

Online vs. brick

AUTHOR: Tyg - (USA)

POSTED: Wednesday, January 25, 2017

What YOU are complaining about is the differences between online sales and retail sales. In a RETAIL store you would have until about Jan.25th to do a return or swap out. Online is a DIFFERENT beast all together. As its online, they ONLY give a 14-15 day return window. The reason they dont have a live rep is that they are NOT going to give YOU a chance to give THEM a sob story. THAT is where issues arrise. It was a item purchased from a website so there are very clearly defined return policies and THEY are NOT going to give YOU the chance to cause someone else to put thier job at risk and break those policies JUST to make YOU happy. If YOU want a greater flexability with returns then YOU MUST make your purchases at a RETAIL brick and mortar store. YOU CHOSE the online shopping due to the CHEAPER price. That cheaper price comes with its own perils. In YOUR case its ZERO flexability on returns. America has fallen in love with online shopping never realizing that it is NOT the same as a normal retail store. To expect the SAME consumer protections online that you have in a store is silly at best and a blatant disreguard of reality at its worst. Shop locally and support the town/city YOU live in. The taxes paid by those retail stores helps the area YOU live in. It also generates JOBS!
