HRS knows what it's doing. They process payments so slow, maybe they can get the late fee every month. But for the conscientious customers, those customer's who monitor their accounts closely, they've figured out how to at least get $10.00.
I realized that a check that I mailed 4/30/02 to HRS USA, the same time as my mortgage check which cleared 5/06, had not cleared 5/8 and so I called to find out the problem. Of course HRS will be happy to do a check over the phone for $10.00 so that it won't be late.
No, of course there is no way they will waive the fee because this is how they make their money, if not by the late fees, then by the $10.00 fee to do a check by phone. I am going to pay them off with a credit card and pay their interest rate gladly just so that I don't have to deal with them any more.
Is it that hard to receive a check that is mailed out promptly and post it to an account? Must be, because this just keeps being a problem. And please, stop trying to blame it on the mail, I mail out at least 25 checks a month and this is the only account I have ever had problems with.

Pay by Electronic pay service

To prevent these late payments or HRS holding checks to collect late fees, I use the US Postal service "Bill Pay" service. All payments are made elecronicly by the post office. So you have proof payment was made on time.

Can't you people count?

The original complaint clearly states that Melinda sent in her payment on 30 April & that when it hadn't cleared by 8 May, she phoned to see what was wrong.
Both of the responses defending the company have mentioned the old "mail your payment 7 days before the due date" rule. As far as I can tell, the difference between 30 April and 8 May is EIGHT days.
This doesn't mean that the company is necessarily holding payments to collect late fees (although it is not unheard-of for companies to resort to such tactics). However, your defenses trying to pin the blame on the original poster for not mailing her payment early enough fall a little flat...

Dont blame company ..very happy HRS customer

Ive had a best buy account for a couple years now and have never had this problem. A lot of people blame companies regarding late fees stating they "they hold the payment until the due date".
For as long as I remember the postal service has always been slow. I've sent letter and have it not recieved to the other person for a couple weeks. Also,a lot of people think there is a person in the payment center opening the envelopes themselves. This is 2002,it all goes through a machine to make payments apply to accounts faster. Every financial company states to send your payment 7 days before the due date, its not a HRS thing, its everybody.
Im a very happy HRS customer.

Hrs should not be at fault for mail delays

I have an account with Hrs and I have never had a problem with the company. We blame every thing on the company when actully its are own fault that payments are posting late(they were mailed late). If that's not the case who should really be at fault for mail delays? My payment is due the 10th of every month, I make sure my payment post to my account every month by mailing my payment at least 7days before the due date, just in case of mail delays.
