Last October looking for better prices I called Hughes Net to sign up with them. While talking to a Sales Rep I informed them I needed a service comparible to Time Warner ( the company I was currently with) because I have four boys who have 2 PS3's, an X-Box 360, 4 TV's, 4 Lap Tops and we use alot a internet and need something fast. They informed that they did. It was "GEN 4" It sounded good. I signed up. Within a month my boys were complaining of slow speed and disconnections. When I called Hughes Net abou this they put me thru a series of checks and re-boots to no avail and then out a Tech to check everything. It was a Tech from a contracted company and it was him that informed me of the Speed caps that Hughes Internet had. Also I called Hughes Net about this and was told yes, they do have caps and the reason for my slow speeds and disconnections was because I had exceeded my limit and that I could purchase extra usage packets for a fee of $5.00 each. After going off on them that I was never informed about this I hung up. The next day I went back to Time Warner. And that was that. Or so I thought. 10 days ago Hughes Net withdrew $380 from my checking account without my knowledge, permission or notice. I contacted my bank adn they temporarilly fefunded the money pending an investigation. I am concerened that once they contact Hughes Net that Hughes Net will claim that a contract is in force and the money will be taken out of my account again. I contacted Hughes Net again to try and explain that I don't think that a contract exists becasue one, I never signed one, and two that the contract is void because there was a not a meeting of the minds as a result of me not beijg informed of the usage cap and had I known that I never would of signed up. They told me they it is their policy that they inform all new customers of their usage cap. I tried telling them about my four boys and their internet needs and that I am on SSI and there is no way I would sign up for something that not meet our needs especially with a fee to purchase more Megabytes. They wouldn't listen to me. Agin I hung up out of frustration. I am still trying to find someone at Hughes Net corporate or Lagal to talk to about this but any link on the internet won't work and customer says they have no way of contacting those departments. I need help. Then I read about the same problem has been happening to many others and there is a class action suit currentyly on-going. I need to be apart of that. Please contact me with someone that can help me.

Well as far as you switching from TWC to hughesnet, i guess you should have done some research and read the fine print. First of all if you claim there was no contract, break out your copy of the hughesnet work order you signed and read all of the small print. Beleive me the same goes for that TWC work order. Second. If you are on SSI, and a limited income why in the world do you have 2 ps3s, xbox, 4 tvs, laptops, ect..? Something is wrong with that picture. Third. Internet speed is measured in megaBITS. File sizes are measured in megaBYTES. Jesus. Fourth. You just need to reevalute yourself...
