well im scheduled to go on military deployment soon. I notified Hughesnet of this and they told me to provide proof of this to which i complied. They then told me that they could suspend my account, but i would still be charged for equipment fee's. I asked could i return the equipment since i woud not be using it anyway. They replied to me that by returning the equipment it would be considered cancelling the account and i would be carged a $450.00 penalty. so there i was left with equipment which was boxed up and be charged almost $200 for having it or try to return it and face a major penalty. The stated simply that they could care less if i was deploying to the middle east. I, earlier this year I, was deployed for three months and my account was suppose to be suspended after they assured me they reieved a faxed copy of my faxed orders. When i arrived home i realized i had been charged rom Aug to Nov 2009 for services i never used, then they retracted the story by saying they never recieved proof i was deploying. That claim/story was altered depending on which representative i spoke with. Some said they saw on file where i went on deployment and recieved the fax and others after realized the mistake tried to cover. Well i lost almost $300. Ion the eve of another deployment i called back at the time i was instructed to and they say the cannot provide me with a 1yr supension only 6mths. Isent them proof 4 time to ensure they could not frabricate another story over 2 weeks ago now this hang up. This company i can truly say is a sham, false services advertising and simply corrupt. Warning to all servicemembers be aware, thy could care less about you or government ordered deployment they simply want money and a commission. They will do whatever it takes to squeeze as much out of you as possible

You have their equipment in your possession and they cannot lease it out to anyone as long as you have it. When I was deployed, I had to set up an account and they withdrew the money monthly. They are a business and of course care about making money, what do you expect?
I personally feel that the satellite companies are a huge rip off but, I cannot blame them for wanting to make money in this economy. Pay the bill or return the equipment and pay the penalty. Stop using your service to this great country as an excuse. Serving is a privilege and an honor.
