Can I get on this contract?

Obviously the best thing to do is quit this company and stay quit! But we need jobs, this company has screwed me several times and I have have been with them for a long time. I have always done wel finacially and as long as I studied my paychecks and found mistakes I was fine, now simply no work....I wish there was way we could file a class action suit against them. I could get every tech in this town to back me up. You know a Judge? How can we get this started.

I need to know more about the Suit!!! They are screwing me also

I have been with company since they started and yes, no loyalty on their part, they are a major scam company now, not before....NOW! They will actually steal money from you and not tell you. Waste it in other places.
I want to know more about the Suit, I want to be involved, they are screwing many techs here in my area. I REALLY want to be involved and do what I can to get what is owed to me.
DicThe Dude.

#5 Consumer Suggestion
in my case
AUTHOR: Paul - (U.S.A.)

In my case I worked for a similar outfit, and was similarly ripped off.
But when I came back out of desperation (no jobs) I forced them to sign a real contract, and in fact had a judge witness it (the company didnt relize the guy witnessing was a judge initially).
The contract was worded such that if they didnt pay for mileage and for the various things promised, that they would have to buy out the contract at $1million per client obtained.
At one point I had 9 clients, who helped bring me 100+ more.
In this particular companies case, 500+ was success, and anythign less was a waste of time for them.
The tried to screw me as before, but I advised the manager to read my contract.
He didnt even know I had one. he tried to fire me but the buyout provision kept all but criminal acts from keeping me from being fired.
The company ended up firing him and the regional manager ended up running things.
As long as I kept producing, they never bothered me again.
From then on, I was a 'hands off' contract.
Point being, when doing various jobs, sometimes doing a contract is better than being a employee.
The biggest part was mileage, anytime they wanted me to go somewhere they had to pay up front first, even if the sale failed.

IMPACT is a worse than AMWAY

I guess I am still employed by Impact, I've been scheduled for 2 jobs this month, none in the past two weeks. When I was hired, I was told techs make $50,000 a year and if I assembled 50-60 bikes a day I could make that much too. Well, except for about two weeks right before Christmas, you never get jobs assembling 50 or 60 bikes, usually 10-15 at a time. 10 bikes times 3.50 (about what they pay you, I was told they used to pay 8.00 a bike...) is 35 bucks! Not counting your gas money, time spent traveling to the store, ect.. If you ran into a problem on a bike or went to a store and had to wait on someone to get the bikes out of stock for you(this happens 90% of the time) they don't pay you for the down time- So in actuality you are probably making less than minimum wage. You will find some hardcore techs out there who have been with this company 10-15 years but they are really weird, socially inept guys and they would totally fail at any other job. I have heard they won't fire you or lay you off, they will keep you on the schedule (billing you 25$ a week for tools that are with MAAAYBE 300$ total) You have to pay the tool rental, you cant use your own. Oh and you got to have a fax machine and a cell phone and internet access, all for what amounts to a minimum wage job (if that) They did give me a cool smart phone that I check my email on(which I pay about 8 dollars a month insurance on, they claim the phone costs $599, it doesn't you can purchase it without a contract for $199, which is quite cheap but they make you buy insurance anyway)- and can make calls on, but you can't receive any (so you got to have a cellphone because they will call you constantly begging you to travel waaaay across town to do more worthless work)
As per the mileage, I was told when I was hired they pay .28 a mile anything over 30 miles a day from your house. That was another lie, it was 60 miles and I live waaay far out and should have gotten mileage everyday but I think I have been paid a total of almost $4.00 since October. They have since changed the policy to pay mileage over 90 miles a day now (which I am sure they STILL won't pay)
My paycheck has had numerous errors also- there is no clear payscale on furniture assembly, how they pay you is a mystery to me and the trainer that trained me.
Anyway, IMHO Impact Resource Group is a scam- Impact Resource Group is a horrible business to work for. It amazes me that Impact Resource Group gets any business too- I am glad TARGET stopped using Impact Resource Group to build it's bicycles- maybe other companys (K-MART, Sears...that's about all thats left, lol)will wisen up and kick Impact Resource Group to the curb and they will go out of business.
I would like to sue this company because the more I think back, I was never paid for writing up repairs, I have spent hours writing up repairs and never got paid for that. Any other Impact techs wanna sue with me?
District 105, Roger Weaver will be the man that spins the fairy tale of Impact Resource Group in South Carolina. Roger, can I have my PTO pay or do I have to fax a request in for that too?

#3 UPDATE EX-employee responds
I too was abused by Impact, but at my time of employment they were (WRTA)
AUTHOR: Colmike - (U.S.A.)
SUBMITTED: Monday, May 19, 2008
I worked for this company about 8 years ago. I was very good at what I did, but it was not enough for Impact (at the time WRTA). They used me and abused me for only a short period.
I was doing well with them at first. I was making good money along with another good assembler here in Columbus Ohio. In Impacts (WRTA's) infinite wisdom they decided to hire more techs part time and gave them more of the good jobs and fewer to us.
The real problems started when these new guys (who did not even know what RTA stood for) were screwing up their jobs. The office would call me or the other guy and expect us to go fix the problem for a $15 return call; this was for an assembly that paid the tech that screwed it up maybe $55 or more. It would take longer to fix it than it would to have built it in the first place. I would not do it for $15 and they started giving me even less work.
The good thing that came out of this crooked company is that it gave me insight that there was an industry like this one.
I started my own business and am doing well. If you work for them now you should do the same thing. There are plenty of Independent Professional Assemblers out there networking together and getting business from the stores, where Impact (or for that matter the other national service providers) cannot deliver on their empty promises.
I know the techs that work for them now are not making anything. Let's figure a $35 job 30 miles away. Most of the techs drive trucks to carry their tools or sometimes do deliveries. They may get 15 miles to the gallon (some less). 30 miles away is a 60 mile round trip and at 15 per gallon the trip cost them $14 at $3.50 per gallon (much higher now).
The $35 job is now a $21 profit or is it? There is ware and tear on your vehicle you know. The average tech takes about an hour and a half on a $35 job. The trip took (depending on speed limits and traffic) another hour and a half. $21 dollar profit at a 3 hour investment You just made a whopping $7 per hour. You will make more at the local hamburger stand. Good luck with that!!!
