Three weeks ago I was recommended to use incorporatetime.com to form my new business entity. I was thrilled believing I could save money by not having to go through an attorney. At first all was great, and for only $435, I formed my LLC. Fast and easy.

That is until i was informed by the state that being a licensed professional ( i am an acupuncturist and massage therapist) I was supposed to form a PLLC, not an LLC. I was not aware in the slightest because no such thing was stated on the Incorporatetime site. I scoped the site from left to right, high to low, every corner- no info whatsoever. For a first timer looking to start their own business, you would think there would be a disclaimer of some sought stating this. They say "While you may consult with an attorney to form your corporation, it is not necessary. We will do all the work necessary to form your new corporation. Leave the rest to us and save money on attorneys
fees." I sent them an email explaining my situation, basically saying how I was misguided, etc, and may I please have a refund because I did have to consult with my attorney and now have to dissolve the LLC and start over and it is going to cost me close to $2400! They called me the following day and the woman Mary, was so rude and cold, she actually made me cry and feel very small. She said there were no "red flags" for her to know I was a licensed professional and I didn't tell her I was. I said I am the customer, i don't know exactly what info you need from me- I just filled out the online form, and chose from one of your options for starting a small business. LLC was my entity of choice. She said you have to call for a PLLC and there is no where online you can get the info, you call and they customize it for you. So I said but if you don't know that that is an option, how are you to know to call in the first place? She said, on the form in my statement of business purpose, I never stated that I was an acupuncturist or massage therapist- but in that statement I wrote the services being provided would be acupuncture and massage. She just tried to get around it any way she could, not to mention I am the sole member, so who do you think provides those services? Only a fool wouldn't know that an acupuncturist provides acupuncture, etc. She then compared my situation to ordering steak at a restaurant, and the waiter bringing me steak, because that's what I ordered, and by me not wanting it anymore, they wont just give you your money back- because you did in fact order it.
I was so infuriated, I couldn't even respond. We all know Mary, that any stand up restaurant would bring it back and give me something different. She is beyond immature and highly unprofessional. Then had the nerve, in a most sarcastic tone, to tell me to have a good day when we were hanging up.
I emailed them again last week, asking for a copy of my order form (for proof that i did state my business purpose appropriately) and a copy of my receipt, because i never received one. They have yet or rather Mary has yet to respond to it, which is so wrong! It seems that this woman is the one who does everything because between the phone calls and emails, she is the one i keep dealing with. She needs to be fired. Her behavior is atrocious! Do not use online sites is what I found out- and the hard way! Just do it right from the start. Mary also told me I should have consulted with an attorney first before using the site... are you kidding me?!!! The site specifically states you don't need to consult with an attorney. She was just beyond ridiculous, and contradicting herself left and right, and after it was all said and done had the nerve to say well we can form the PLLC for you if you'd like. I said no thank you, my attorney is doing that for me as we speak. Just terrible!  They claim their advantage is excellent customer service? Liars!

I don't think you were ripped off

You got what you ordered, plain and simple.

I have used similar sites in the past to incorporate several businesses, and in doing so I have saved a lot of money.  However, you have to know what you are doing and exactly what you need.  You ordered the steak, you got the steak, and at a bare bones price.  Now you find out you actually needed something else.  I don't think it is their problem to fix, no matter what you put down as your business services.

I doubt you will see it that way, but there it is.  Best of luck with your new business.
