I have now read numerous "Ripoff Reports" regarding Intelius and am adding mine.  I am appalled that this company has not been shut down for their unethical, fraudulent and deceptive business practices.

Like others, I made an inquiry to locate two individuals.  I paid $6.90 for one report and received an email confirming the charge.  I also paid $1.95 for another report and received an email confirming that charge.  The information was so outdated and useless it served no purpose whatsoever.  Be that as it may, I realize there were no guarantees and also now realize that Intelius is a crock.

When I reviewed my credit card statement, there was a $6.90 charge, a $19.95 charge, and a $1.95 charge.  I immediately called Intelius and spoke to a representative who assured me that I signed up for a membership.  I explained that not only did I not sign up for the membership, but I never received a single email stating that I authorized this charge of $19.95. To say I was infuriated is an understatement.  I then spoke to a supervisor who stated there must of been a mix up as it showed that I was on the "membership site for 38 seconds and that people sometimes get confused because of the way the website is set up."  I was also informed that I did receive an email regarding the membership.  I asked him to forward it to me but he was unable to do so.  Are you kidding me!  Nevertheless, he assured me that the charge would be refunded.

I typically scrutinize my credit card statements.  In fact, the first time that I looked at it, my eyes skipped over the $19.95 charge since it was sandwiched in between two authorized charges.  Had I not noticed it later, I would have paid the bill without seeing the deception.  There is no question in my mind that this company should be investigated and put out of business for these fraudulent business practices.
