on 4/27/07 the jk harris consultant brumfield promised to start an offer in compromise, stop the IRS & state tax board from sending me threatening letters, tax leans and put my back taxes owed on hold immediately and promptly after I sign the four two sided small printed legal sized contract and in 30 days I was to pay them $1000 down and $500 a month.
I still continued to get the IRS letters and I still had a tax lean 30 days later so I called on 5/27/07 for a refund and got a letter in june saying "no refund will be granted it is an administrative fee". but they did nothing and filed no papers.
I work for an airline as an aircraft mechanic and can travel for free I will go ot any state to sue to get my money back and the attorney general needs to put them out of business for all the hard working familys thay RIPOFF!
what can we do?

Fantastic News from Charleston, SC!!
JK Harris Class Action Lawsuit Settled! Fantastic News! Plaintiffs collect! Charleston, SC
Reported in the Anderson Independent Mail, Business Section, Pg 1D on Wed, 18 July 2007:
A judge has approved a $6,000,000 settlement of a class action lawsuit against a South Carolina based company.... i.e. JK Harris & Co.
*****Summary*******
"About 58,000 people will get an average of $69 EACH"(! )
This settlement "is judged adequate in the sense that it is the largest amount the defendant can pay without risking bankruptcy"....
Let's see:
58,000 times $69 = $4,002,000.
And $6,000,000 - $4,002,000 suggests....
... the legal system collects $1,998,000.
One OP paid $110/month times 9 months = $990
Therefore, someday, that OP may get ($69)/($990) = 0.07 or 7% of his money back?
The $6,000,000 is paid into a fund over 4 years, so OP 'MIGHT' collect 1.75% per year. Unless, of course, the legal system is supposed to collect its $1,998,000. FIRST, meaning OP will have to wait 16 months before he sees ANY of his whopping $69 settlement!
Now, please don't think I am being sarcastic here.
And Steven in this complaint only 'suggested' that he may have paid at least $1000. Another poster had quoted a total of $3500, while the example above is based on one OP's total payment of $990.
So let's do some math.... Let's assume ALL 58,000 people in the aformentioned class action lawsuit paid an average of $1000 each, or
[58,000 people] times [$1000 per person] which is $58,000,000.
But "This settlement [$6,000,000] "is judged adequate in the sense that it is the largest amount the defendant can pay without risking bankruptcy" "
$6,000,000 is 10.3% of that $58,000,000 which sounds like just another "cost of doing business" to me. And the legal profession took its $1,998,000 cut [or 3.4% of the projected $58,000,000 gross] leaving 6.9% net for the victims.
So why should the "JK Harris Party" ever stop? An 89.7%-of-receipts gross income, i.e. $52,026,000, isn't bad. Since numerous posts suggest that nothing seems to be manufactured except excuses, and the various complaints usually allege that nothing is actually ever done, the net profit margin should be at least 25% of $52,026,000 or $13,006,500.
So I would expect to read about even more class action lawsuits that return the victims 6.9% of their money. Sounds to me like a good deal. for the legal system.
Will the AG's do anything? I don't know, but I would wonder where their incentive to act might lie. I do remember a fairy tale with the moral that one should not kill the goose that lays the golden eggs.

I'd keep all communication in written form. send all mail via Registered Mail with Return Receipt. Put the Return Receipt # on all communications. Tell them you'll contact the State Attorney General and BBB if they don't offer a refund. If that doesn't work go to their local claims court.
I don't understand how these firms can make promises to settle with the IRS. the IRS rarely does such things and only in exceptional cases: i.e. your house and business were destroyed by Hurricane Katrina.
