I bought the car in 11-2006 Got the gap insruance that was explained to me to be a god send... Well a year and 2 days after I bought the car I totaled it on the interstate comming home from work. It took progressive 1 month to get the claim prossessed... Understandable.. Insurance companys have never been quick at any thing, Right? Well my loan company "Regional Acceptance 11127 N Dale Mabry Hwy, Tampa, Fl 33618" Was working on getting the GAP paperwork together to submit to JM&A for the pay out on the car. There is alot of paperwork that these GAP insurance companys require prior to paying out on the car. Letter from me staiting what happened, A letter from the insurance company staiting what they payed out and why, A Letter from the loan company staiting how much is owed....
Well Progressive didnt get back with me untill the end of December to do the payout of the car and inform me that it was a total loss... "Kinda funny I drove it to them" Well it took about a month for the remainder of the warrenty on my car to be refunded back to the loan company... WOW thats allready 2 Months. Can You Beleave that progressive didnt release any thing to Regacc "loan company" untill the middle of March.... With the loan company having all the paperwork now done they submitted it to jm&a...
Guess what They are now saying that the gap insurance is deemed null and void due to the fact that the paperwork was submited 90 days after the wreck. Ive called them and complained and called my loan company and complained.... So Basicly I'm 90 days behind on my car payments on a car that is long sence gone. On a ballance of $4390. Sick uh?

I purchased a 2008 Toyota Prius from Heyward Allen Toyota in Athens, Georgia. The finance manager explained the GAP protection to me, I was hesitant but it didn't add much to the payment so I took it. Seven months later, I am involved in an accident that totals the vehicle. In those seven months, I put over 11,000 miles on the car. My insurance company, Geico valued the car $5,500 below what I owed.
Without me having to do the paperwork scramble I've read about or really any work at all other Southeast Toyota Finance handled everything. JM&A paid off $5,276.87 leaving me a balance of $285. Withoutthe GAP program, I'd be trying to figure out how I was going to pay that large balance.
I purchased a new 2011 Toyota Prius from Team Mall of Georgia Toyota and the finance manager had no difficulty getting me to sign on to buying the GAP coverage again.
The accident happened on December 8, 2011. The payment from Geico was received by the finance company on January 3, 2012. The warranty paid on January 3, 2012. And JM&A paid on January 15, 2012. That is a different outcome than the one the original complainant had.

I work for an auto dealer that uses JM&A prouducts. I have always been a full disclosure business manager meaning i make sure there are no surprises in the end and the consumer is fully aware of what they are purchasing. When i was a teenager any time i got in trouble my father would tell me ignorance is NEVER a defence. Total Loss protection "GAP" is truely an amazing proubuct. if used correctly it would have saved you $4800 and paid your deductable all for 595 or whatever your dealer charged you. Wheres the issue???? The issue is that instead of being proactive you waited for your slow insurance company to give you a run around. most insurance claims take less than 3 weeks. HOW i ask did your claim take 90 days i dont know. but maybe next time instead of you calling a product a rip off you should have acted and taken advantage of your gap protection.
