John Moore Services Attempted Rip-Off To Replace Water Heater Houston Texas

Sorry to vent but I want to share my experience in case anyone is thinking about using this company John Moore Plumbing. My furnace guy told me he saw water in my water heater pan. I called my plumber but they could not make it out for several days and I was worried about it overflowing. So I called John Moore Plumbing because my mom had seen their truck in her neighborhood often. Although they could come out that day and had no service charge for diagnostics, they are crooks! By the time they left I needed not only a new water heater and pan, but they were suggesting that my cooper pipes were no good and needed to be replaced (for the small fee of $18K). The cheapest water heater I could get from them was for $2800 with a 6 year warranty. If I was really crazy, I could pay $4k for a 12 year warranty.

I called my plumber and they could do it for $1250 (6y warranty), without even knowing that I had gotten another quote. That may even seem high to some but they have to hall it up two flights of stairs and the attic stairs. When they got here they told me my pan looked brand new and did not need to be replaced. I had them look at my cooper pipes. They said all the plumbing looked great and that there was one A/C line that had some corrosion that I might want to have checked out. They also told me that in 20 something years they have never replaced cooper pipes in a home. So, I strongly recommend Deer Park Plumbing. They were in and out of my house in about an hour and fixed two leaking sinks for free while they were here. Stay away from John Moore, unless of course you are into throwing money away!
