Juniper Bank Late Pay Charge bill rec'd after due date Wilmington Delaware

I received my credit card statement on August 17, 2006 with a due date of August 15, 2006. Normally I do not use this credit card, however Easy Pass debited my account for $25. The day I received the bill, August 17th, I went into their website and paid the $25. While in my account I noticed that the balance was $64. The additional $39 was a service charge.

The same day I contacted their customer service about the problem and they informed me they could not waive the service charge. Again that same day, August 17th, I sent them a letter explaining that it was impossible for me to pay a bill on time when I received the bill after the due date. I informed them that I wanted the charge to be heard by a third party arbitrator as soon as possible and to cancel my credit card at once. They never responded to that letter.

On September 5, 2006 I received the next statement from them showing the late payment fee plus a $1.00 Finance Charge. That same day I sent them another letter explaining the problem and requested they take immediate action on my problem.

Finally on September 19, 2006 I received a form letter saying they reviewed my account and they would not waive the Late Fee. This letter was dated September 13, 2006; their postage stamp was dated September 14, 2006 and the Post Office stamped the letter "15 Sep 2006". Coincidently, the same day my payment was due.

Unfortunately, the envelops that my statements come in are preprinted without any date listed on them.

On October 3, 2006 I received a new statement. This statement shows another $39 late fee plus $1 Finance Charge.

Earlier this year I suffered a major heart attack which required a five way bypass. My doctor said that stress had to be avoided. Their poor customer service and failure to respond to my correspondence has done nothing but give me great stress.
