I truly believe all the stories I have read here. I wish we would of googled and found all these complaints about Ken Monilaw before we hired him.

Ken Monilaw is my daughter’s brother in law; one would think a person could trust an extended family member. My husband and I started a remodel bathroom project. However we quickly learned we were over our heads with the work involved. So my daughter and son and law recommend we give Ken a call. They were also unaware of the scams and unethical practices he was doing to the public and incent others who have been scammed.  We meet with Ken and he said yes I can do the job normally I charge 40 per hour for family discount I will do the work for 20 an hour and If I have a helper I will charge 15 per hour to pay him. We asked how long will the job take he said about 5 times working 4 hours at a time.

Here is the facts where the rest of the scam starts we hire him all of our supplies was to be used.

July 2 2014 he asked for some money up front to pay his helper he gave him a check for $600.00

July 7 2014 he asked for an additional $600.00 said he was in a bind starting a new job and was not going to get paid for 2 weeks. Trusting him and knowing he has children. We issued him another check.

Below are the dates and times he worked. Total of 30 hrs.  Now let’s do the math $

 Ken $20.00 X 30 hrs = $600.00

Helper $15.00 X 7.5 hrs= $112.00

Also ever time he came I rounded up to the half a hour not buy 15 min

In November Ken did attempt to come 1 time with no notice, we were not home and he left a note on the door. So it’s now the first of the year I text Ken on Jan 3, 2015 to inform him of my concerns and that I am upset this project has gone on way to long.  Ken responded hat he will not be finishing the job.  I was shocked I asked for my 500 overpayment to be returned he got very nasty told me he has done over $4000.00 worth of work. Personally I think he is crazy insanely confused (WE have $4000.00 worth of tile sitting in the bathroom that WE had bought not Ken). He told me asking for OUR money back that I was evil and stealing from his children. Evil I have watch his children free of charge on 3 different occasions. Would you really leave your children with an Evil Person? Would an Evil person really pay you all that money up front to help you? Personally I feel Ken Monilaw is the Evil one. We are a one income household,  we were scammed and stole from. My bathroom is half finished just as it was when he first came to work … Oh I mean first came to steal from us. I could add a whole bunch of other personal facts about his character. But we shall leave these facts for you all to decide if you would Hire Ken Monilaw.
