K & G Distributing (out of Chatham Illinois) is a Kirby Vacuum sales operation.  It has been 3 years since I left them and was a bit angry when I did.  Greg Featherston was the supposed owner, but when he moved the company from it's original location (don't remember what that City was) the company was put in his wife's name (Kaysi Featherston) so that his ex-wife could not put any claims to profits for child support. This informatin was given to me directly from Kaysi Featherston (current wife at that time).  I was the only woman salesperson and was their top salesperson and money maker at that time so Kaysi and I got along quite well.  They have a few award plaques on their wall from me.

I DID get to go to the Bahamas from one of their sales contests.  Did I earn it?  NOPE.  I actually DID sell enough to get the trip, but sales cancellations came out of that and I DID have a few of those.  What K & G did to make sure I qualified for the trip through Kirby was to put my name on any sales from people that quit before the competition was over.  They had to make sure that they were represented in the Bahamas for their sales.  They were very good at falsifying records.

Was it fun?  No!  And they know that I hated going ... would have rather stayed home and made money.  The trip was NOT free totally.  I had to drive from Springfield Illinois to Chicago illinois and pay for the gas for that AND pay for the parking fees for the entire time my car was in Chicago while we were gone (and Chicago is NOT cheap!).  Had to pay for hi-way tolls ... and when we got to the hotel in the Bahamas, had to put down a $300 deposit with a credit card which I did NOT have!  That was real fun.  I was not married and was able to take someone else so my daughter got to go ... and that was the only real plus out of the whole trip.  She was 13 years old and she had the time of her life.

I believe in Kirby vacuums and own one myself.  I SHOULD have the newest one because I was told that because of my hard work and dedication and massive sales, I had earned a free one.  Never received.

Kirby vacuums should go on forever.  They are honestly the best vacuum that I have ever used.  But ... the owners of the distributorships pay a few hundred dollars for them and the selling price is over $2,000 right now (and the dealers don't make a penny unless they sell them for a grand or more (or at least that was how it worked when I was there).

Just to add to that, I have read many reports from other people about what goes on with K & G and most of them are true.  The advertisement for employment is very misleading.  You do NOT get paid for training.  You can be out in the field for 12 to 14 hours a day and not earn a penny.

If you become a good salesperson, you are PUSHED to become a manager.  At that point, your sales are dependant on other people AND you are responsible for all transportation costs to get these other dealers to wherever you are going to knock on doors.  Since K & G has a problem keeping managers, if you get a salesperson trained and selling well, they will put that person with a new manager just to insure that new manager income so that they will stay ... and they give YOU the new people to train.  So your income goes right downhill.

When I left the company, not only had I not received the free Kirby that I was told I had earned, but I supposedly owed Greg Featherston about $1000 (after all of the hard work and hours that I had put in).
