I have been a customer at Kmart/Sears/Lands End for YEARS. Kmart always has adverstised sales that require a purchase and in return, your account will be credited back points. For instance, buy $12 worth of Dove product get $3 in points. Well, sometimes the promotion works and sometimes ( most) of the time, it DOES NOT WORK. So I will return the item. ALot of the times shopping in a kmart store, I will be overcharged because the product is in the wrong spot or they use the wrong sales tag OR they leave up last week sales tags. So shopping there is quite a hassle. Now, the bigger issue is the Loss Prevention for Kmart started harrassing myself and my 3 children for bringing these issues to their attention and because I would return the items that would not generate the points. Or because I would ask them to honor their mistakes. They started calling other stores in this area to "warn" them about me. The reason I know this is because alot of the employees told me that I have a target on my back because I try to make them honor their mistakes. ALot of customers will walk out of the store and not complain about being overcharged because the kmart managers refuse to honor any of their price mistakes. They make it VERY hard to get a price adjustment. I told one of the managers that I saw one of his employees committing fraud by signing people up for the warranty plan with out their persmission. She tried to do it my husband and he caught it.

That explains it...

I couldn't exactly figure out where you got this entitlement mentality..but your update answered that.  You were given the title of a "VIP Platinum Member" and figure that empowers you to tell the store how it should be run because of your new found status.  My guess is that every single complaint to them you started off by saying these words..."I am a VIP Platinum Member and....".

Yes, in my days in retail many moons ago we people given these various "loyalty" titles.  Many handled it just fine, others let it go to their head.  In fact we had a name for the ones that did and is still in use today..PITA.  If you don't know what it means..go look it up.

You think that your new title entitles you too not only complain about anything you want but makes you an honorary employee.  Where you are able to stand next to a customer in order to know if they wanted that warranty or not.  Where you have access to the personal files, after all just how do you know that they hire a lot of ex-convicts?

Oh if you say that you don't have accesss to their records you just "asked" the employees..you just proved my point.  As that  puts you in the "busybody" category sticking your nose in where it really doesn't belong?

Of course there is another explanation.  You are just trying to exaggerate your report to make them look as bad as possible, even though you have absolutly no proof of anything you have said.  But even if they have employees as an ex-convict what does that matter?  Are they ripping you off personally?  Have they personally done anything to you that would be considered even remotely illegal?

As for spending the $100 in points..again if this place is that bad why not just spend the points and move on instead of trying to earn more?

My husband was the person she did this to!!! I shop there so much that I have witnessed it for myself. I am a VIP platinum member, I purchased washers, dryers, furniture, diapers, etc. and sometimes with those purchases I would earn some points so I would spend them at Kmart. I shopped ALOT at Kmart when they were doubling coupons! So I would earn alot of points and sometimes I would'nt but regardless, if they are going to advertise a sale, they should honor it. Yes, there is more to the story, if you would go to any kmart you would notice they hire alot of ex convicts (a majority of them are very nice) but quite a few are creepy and should not be there. Most of the Loss Prevention here are not professional at all, they have a different mentality. If you were to walk into a kmart you would notice the "culture", it aint no target! But I liked shopping there because nobody shops at kmart and their shelves were always full. I have called MANY times to complain about loss prevention harassing me for complaining about their bait and switch activities.  Sure I could shop at a different retailer but when you have earned over $100 in points, you would want to spend them!! Kmart is a great store with great deals but unfortunately they dont hire the best people to represent them.

Question...

According to you the promotion doesn't work most of the time, you are overcharged a lot of the time, you have to go through the hassle of returning items that the promtion didn't work.  You are told by employees that you have a "target" on your back, and you are harrassed by the Loss Prevention, and other stores in the area are being "warned" about you.

So with all of that, why do you keep going back?

But you aren't done yet.  You then witness a customer being signed up for a warranty without their permission, as well as your husband catching them.  I could understand your husband, but just how were you in a position to not only see people being signed up for a warranty, but that it was without their permission?

Seems like there might be more to this story than you are posting.
