Most of what was said by others here is true.
I never truned down a load, always on time,professional, take great care of trucks.
As long as run illegal every thing is great. But turn down a load because of be very tired , the load will be there on time and you are told to take the truck in and mt it out.
Company will short you at least 10% on miles paid on EVERY load. Even if you follow their routing exactly on a typical 600 mile trip you will run at least 660 miles to get it there. Therefore you are running 60 miles for free.Next, Knight is going after short haul stuff that pays big bucks. They tell dispatch they have extra money to offer the driver but don't offer it unless the driver asks.
Next, Get used to being forced to run illegal by your dispatcher and then get in trouble or probably fired by safety because they can't communicate.
Next, No matter how much notice you give them that you need to be off on a certain day you can't guarantee it. So you can't make plans if they won't get you home with family.
I tried to work it out will everyone including division manager, but all i got was lies and smoke and mirrors. Had dates times and load numbers but they would not pull them up and every thing was my fault.
In closing.....Knight Transportation brags about how they are a debt free company. But if you have to steal from your driver to get that status I wouldn't go bragging about it. So do yourself a favor and take my advise....Steer clear from Knight. And this is from a driver with quite a few years of service in with them. I am not your typical driver that was here 3 months and then quit.

Stopping at the scales, whistle blowers ?
Hahaha dude what planet did you come from? On planer earth, that is this planet no one is interested in hearing from drivers. Who do you think gives companies tax brakes to train fore more drivers than is needed so that we all must work for slave wages?
We drivers have no $$$ for campaign contributions so we get no representation. Big trucking companies have lots of money that they have stolen from drivers and they can make big contributions. So since trucking companies can buy representation and drivers cannot whose interests will be represented? It is really that simple. It amasses me that it is such difficult concept for many to grasp.
Guess that is why we are truck drivers and not banksters, politicians, big trucking company owners, and such refined gentleman. :)

1) Knight Transportation is like 90% of all the companies, nowadays. They don't pay "practical" miles. they pay HHG miles (Household mover guide), which is basically zip code to zip code. Some companies use the short miles on PC miler. It typically will short you 5-6% of the miles.
2) Run Illegally! Really now? How does that work? You actually do that? Ever thought about stopping at a scale, and reporting that. Ever heard of the "whislte blower" act?
3) I don't work for Kevin Knight, and now that I have had my experience with them, wouldn't ever work for them. I never made it through orientation. I pull reefer and at Knight, you stay our 4-6 weeks before you can go home.

Everything you have said is 110% true. I currently work them, bust my chops to make ends meat. Honestly, I am sick of not getting paid for the miles I run, and so are quite a few drivers I know. If I am not mistaken, Swift and another company, are being sued for that alone, and I would love to see Knight in the mix. Everything was great when I first started off, now that I've been there 8 months, they are starting to realize that the reasons you stated are why I do what I want, when I want and how I want. I, and other drivers bend over backwards for these guys' just to get yelled at and no respect.
