L A Fitness Canceled Personal Trainer Contract per contract instructions and the company continues to steal money from my account. Bristol, Connecticut

    My wife joined L A Fitness in Bristol, Ct at the end of October. They offered her one free Professional Trainer session at her first visit. At the end of that session, the high pressure sales pitch to contract a professional trainer got the best of her and she signed up.

    The next day, realizing that she never really wanted a trainer, she just wanted a place to exercise, she wrote out a letter of cancelation as the contract stated she would need to do within 3 days to cancel and she mailed it Express Mail.

    L A Fitness received and signed for it 2 days after the original contract had been signed. When she went to the gym a few days later, the trainer was very irate towards my wife. My wife apologized, but said she preferred not to have a trainer at that time.

    Well, they withdrew $202.00 for the personal trainer contract and continued to withdraw $74.45 from our checking account every 2 weeks for the trainer and refused to cancel the contract. She went and talked to the director at L A Fitness and he assured her he would cancel the contract and refund our money. He even signed a statement for her acknowledging this.

   They continued withdrawing money and never returned any of the money they had taken. I had to go to my bank and put a stop payment on these withdrawals and I continue to try to get the money they stole out of our account. L A Fitness prefers to keep the money, but says they will still offer her the personal trainer if she wants it. We are extremely frustrated.
