I have been tanning at the same l.A Tan location for the past five years. i have payed cash for the most part, once purchased a package and payed in cash, and most recently i purchased another package costing around 75-80 dollars a month. the new rules state that one can only pay with a credit or debt card..so i used my chase access account card with the understanding that if at any time the fee could not be debted from the bank account,..the tanning account would be closed. i had the tanning account for roughly 4-5 months. around the month of july i had a few different things come up, i ended uo closing the bank account and in the middle of everything i did not find the time to call the la tan location and freeze the membership, i was out of town on emergency and honestly that was the last thing on my mind. i went back to the location this past january..maybe the beginning if february 2010..expecting to maybe have to pay the last month off..& i was excepting to reopen everything. when i came in i was informed that my balance is not almost 500 dollars, and the entire time i was away..and not tanning, they were charging me for the tanning package even though i hadnt tanned during that entire time. when i tried to explain this i was told that although i didnt use the package the computer doesnt know that and continued to charge me..i asked him how was i being carged if the bank account was closed..the computer obviously noticed that it wasnt getting any money. he said the computer doesnt know that,,it only knows there is still a balance.( exact words) i asked why it could not be reversed..they said there was no way to do thatm, AND i was charged for late fees every time the computer tried to debt the account and failed. so basically i am being charged because a computer doesnt know the difference. at no time was i contacted about my absence, about my fees..i was not contacting reguarding anything. i was just continually charged. i tried calling their corporate and there is never an answer..it rings and goes dead after awhile. fantastic isnt it?
