They will lie to you just to get your money, dont do it. I am an older student and couldn't believe what goes on there. Teachers are not teachers they are disgruntled Surg Tech's from the field. They are there for a paycheck not because they really care about the students. I showed up everday and I think the so called teachers wondered why, and sometimes hoped I didnt
I was in a class were the students were so frustrated by there lack of teaching that they stole a test off the Instructors desk when he was out of the room. Everyone in my class was complaining, and I moved to Phoenix from Prescott spent all sorts of money to live in Phoenix. I just wanted to get through it hoping it would get better, it never did it got worse.
They never found me extership site, I found my own and then the site really liked me, but wouldnt hire me because they couldnt believe how bad my skills were, they hired someone else while I was there. The whole experience was horrible, they were constantling telling me how bad the school was, like I didnt already know.
I know other people that feel the same way as I do, I hope we can shut this program down

They Are Frustrated
AUTHOR: BuildingSharer - (United States of America)
SUBMITTED: Thursday, February 03, 2011
Lamson students are completely fed up with the BS. My company shares a building with them in Tempe, and the last 2 days they have received bomb threats which forces a total building evacuation. People spend a lot of money and then get jerked around, told it is their fault, or get noting but lies from this school.

Hello mr jjk. and lamson students. everyone appriciates your opinions and concerns and i am truely sorry about your horrible experience and waste of money!! But, i think that you misunderstood "zorro's" comment. one of the main reasons that she did indeed leave the school was because of the fact that she did not agree with passing students like "Lynn" who never put in 100%-to say the least-but were told by the dean and program director that they had to pass them!! she fought hard for that principle-and many others, i assure you. the majority of the instructors, like myself, really cared, and are very capable, worked in the field and edjucated. there are a select few of instructors that are untouchable, had no rules, come and go as they please, have no degree, just go through the motions and waste the students time completely!! (by the way, our program director has no degree-masters let alone a bs degree-just a former brymen grad w/ an aa in st, don't even know if she ever made it into the field??) I know not everyone will identify or even like all instructors, but again, i do know a select few, like zorro, that gave it more than 100%, and like myslf, were alianated, shunned, and humiliated if we complained or spoke up for our students or demanded reform!! people said that i was a quitter for leaving-but i was forced out for just the above reasons-i told the program director, dean, and vice pres that they were doing all of you a great diservice and everyone accross the board was being treated unfairly and that there was mad favoritism going on!! it was so unfair to force you all to combine classes, change your schedules, put instructors in unmanageable schedules and put us in classes we were not even trained to teach, and the worst-make you wait for extern and screw up all of your plans and lives!! i am so sorry...but believe it or not, a few of us fought for you!! ;0 anyways, you all deserve some kind of compensation in my book, and i would help any of you if i can; i feel i also deserve some recourse or compensation! i thought i was so fortunate to have my dream job-to teach! the whole situation is so horrible and i am sorry for all of us who were so excited for a good experience! if you are still there and hanging in to the end, I am proud of you! there is one option for you that is actually pretty cool! if you are in the situation were you can do your extern out of state, there is no wait, great housing, and $1400.00 a mo allowance, as well as an opportunity some might not of had to travel! as far as the blame-game goes, everyone needs to realize that the real blame starts first at admissions-they were told to keep enrolling-make that $$ no matter what, (our former prez's idea), then, having a totally inappropriate,no experience in sales/communications, untrained, lazy, rude slug be the extern coordinator who pissed off all of our sites , never followed through, and then lost them! and the main, major problem-the program director herself!!!! she knew all of this was taking place and let it go on and on and on until total, irriversable damage was done to our program and our reputation!! so many went to her for help-students and employees-and were blown off, ignored, even mocked and humiliated!! well, one tiny bit of solice-it is almost all over. the program is shutting down, and she will be back out in the real world w/ no job-along w/ her "roommate"...and any other real school would never employ them in their former positions-how in the heck did they ever get this crappy gig anyways??? a director w/o a masters degree??? and most of all, the lamson rep on their backs!! wow-that is alot-but i felt it all needed to be said. everyone is entitled to their opinion, and i thank everyone for being respectful and not mentioning names. good luck to you all, and again-i'm sorry to all you!!

Listen people, I was in Lynn's class when she bragged about how she failed her last class but threatened the school president with a lawsuit if they did not pass her, Shame on the school for being bullied and shame on you lynn for not telling the truth. We all tried to help you but you would never listen to anybody. You went to your extern unprepared which is the instructors fault but also your fault and now the school has lost another site so the rest of us get to keep waiting. and as far as employees quiting over how the school is run??? Ethics don't feed the family but I am sure there is going to be a mass exodus soon and hopefully they shut that shitty program down...
Remember Lynn, if you are going to call out the school for your failure you need to take some of the responsibility, you were in the wrong and you pissed off alot of students who were working hard with your story about threats and then lauging about it.

Time to move on!

Lamson will soon no longer offer a Surgical Technology program. The previous threads are basically correct in the details.
I have to agree with, but also take issue with, Zorro though. In previous (and other threads on this issue), you were extremly supportive of the teachers and administration, placing the "problems" with the program squarely on the shoulders of the student(s). I will assume at that time you were still an instructor there. I don't know, maybe you were one of the people who finally got through the crap to bring the situation to light.
I do know though, that your excuse as an instructor, "we were just doing our jobs" holds no merit. That excuse has been used historically for wrong doings and hasn't and still doesn't meet any "smell test". What a poor excuse. This shows total lack of moral or ethically conscience on your part. Yes, in this economy it is hard to find a job, but I would like to think that someone who teaches surg tech student what is called "surgical conscience" would have a moral and ethical conscience in regards to their education. It was "Okay" for you to lie to and deceive your students all in the name of "doing my job". How you could "pass on" students who deserved to fail a course, show total lack of regard to surgical patients in the future. Because of you and your beliefs, I may be in a serious surgery someday with one of your sub-par students possibly passing incorrect or contaminated instruments which could endanger MY life. Hope your paycheck was worth it.
You are right though, it is not fair to paint all instructors with the same brush. The program had a few really fantastic women who gave their all, only to be "laid off" last Fall because they were "too hard" or "unfair". Again, like was said in another post, Lamson's program was "for profit", so they weren't remotely interested in failing or holding back a student. No student, no money. Bottom line.
So, good luck to the students/former students of Lamson's surg tech program. Good luck to those instructors who tried to buck the system and were laid off. To the others, (from the bottom up...I agree, no names are needed), I hope you find your moral and ethical compass - please stay out of the classroom and OR until you do.

I do not work at lamson and i haven't worked at lamson for a bit now.
Second before you get all jumpy and blame people for something you need to think about who we answered to and who they answered to! Blaming instructors and program directors is not right. We did what we were told to do. I'm not defending the school im defending the people doing the job they were told to do and now take the blame. Why do you think so many people have left the school. I for example.
I was not going to sit behind my desk and feed students lies because the president of the company was just going to ignore the problem until it went away. Well problems like that don't go away.
However, I had many students that were not ready to pass my courses but i was overruled by Jim and told that i had to pass them. When i didn't pass them i left the school. I couldn't be putting people in fields they were not ready for. I'm sorry if its hard to believe but the instructors are not all to blame. In this economy its hard enough to find a new job. So think about all that next time you wanna blame someone.

Just found this site. Interesting.
Lynn is right...Zorro is wrong. I am a former student of Lamson College/Surg Tch program.
Just want to say, so many of us got screwed and Lamson knows it. Whoever this "Zorro" is, must be an employee trying to pass the blame of this farce onto the students who paid allot of money and spent allot of time trying to get an education.
Give it up "Zorro" you'll be out of a job soon. Hope you can live with yourself that you were part of a scam.
Bet you don't respond to that....will you? If you don't have enough guts to post on here....email me. skyle5678@aol.com.

Sorry, "Zorro", the complaint is only too true. Interesting that at this late date, you did not mention that the program is in such disarray that the parent college (Delta Education) stepped in and offered (one of four options) to BUY-OUT students. This entailed paying off their student loans ($30,000+) AND "giving" them $5,000 so they would not sue. All four options offered have cost Lamson/Delta hundreds of thousands of dollars. If you would take the time to check, you will also find out Lamson is no longer offering a Surgical Technology program.
The whole program was a joke. I find it hard to believe you would pass the blame onto the students, when you know full well that the complaints are true. I was there, you didn't have to "steal" a test off the instructors desk, they gave you the questions and answers to the exams. I believe you were one of our instructors and you are guilty of passing along students who didn't even come close to applying themselves.
Some of us are "out there" trying to get an externship, involved with their externship or have left the program, I'm in/was in the "trenches" and I don't know where you find a 97% positive rating? Enlighten me please. I was told from a representative from Delta Ed/Miller-Mott that OVER ONE-HALF of the surg tech students took the buy-out. Satisfied students??? I think not.
You're a very, very smart woman, I'm sorry you got duped into such a scam.

Did you really pay attention? getting a 70% and barely sliding by is not passing a class with anything special. Most students who complained they did not learn are complaining mainly because they didn't show up or even try when they were there! I happen to know first hand that the instructors at Lamson are very knowledgeable and very integrated to the fields they represent. Not to mention the fact that if so many people are failing at extern sites then why is Lamson getting a 97% positive review? Answer that for me Lynn.
