Well, I have been a customer of Standard Federal Bank, later Lasalle Bank for about 20 years. Lately like everyone else in Michigan, things get tight and cut kind of close. Well on 2-19-08 a check was supposed to be deposited like it is every other Tuesday for the last 10 years, but because of Presidents Day the check was held an extra day...leading to mass NSF fees.

My house paymnet was cleared, all the transactions over the weekend and Monday were cleared, they showed up on their website, they balenced perfectly at the ATM, my direct withdraw for my Car Insurence was short, by about $120.00 because of the check being back a day. At the close of business Tuesday it showed a balence of (-184.50) Then after the check was deposited on Wednesday for $235.00 and a paycheck was deposited on thursday for $335.00 we were still in the red $145.00. We had over $500.00 in NSF fees. Instead of charging me for the one that went over, they re-organized all the charges from Highest to lowest, and subsequently charged me $33.00 per overdraft...like a $3.76 charge at Starbucks cost me $36.76...and so on and so on. As soon as that flag goes up, they go back two days and adjust it for thier benifit...they admitted to me that the re-organize from high to low, EVEN though they acknowledge that i had all of them covered up to that day...IF YOU ARE A PART OF THIS SAME MISJUSTICE AND CRIME...LET'S GET TOGETHER.

Responsible?

Yes I am responsible...I knew the banks were closed on Monday...I didn't know however that the check that is supposed to be directly deposited, EVERY Tuesday would be late a day because the bank was closed on Monday. A simple misunderstanding, that didn't warrant $660 in NSF fees. Like I said only ONE transaction was over...they didn't have to re-post everything from 4 days prior.

I have done the whole OverDraft thing and it all boils down to this...be responsible, KNOW that banks are closed on Presidents Day so YES there will be a delay in transactions. You should have known this and made the proper arrangements...where is the rip off???
