I just got a letter from this law firm to collect the debt I paid off in year 2001. I had a credit card debt with First Tennessee Bank, and the account was paid in full and closed in 2001.

I told the collector to contact First Tennessee Bank to get thing straight, and the collector refused. He asked me to show proof that I paid off the debt. First Tennessee Bank told me that my account shows zero balance and it had never been sent to a collection agency......

I am filing a formal complaint to State Bar against this law firm. I am also going to file a complaint to the Federal Trade Commission against both the law firm and the bank.
