Before I had this gutter system installed we never had water comming into the house. Their motto is: Get it and Forget it. Also, No leaves. No ladder. No Equal.

I had this No-Clog gutter system for my house on 8/28/02. I was lied to by their sales rep named Ed Peelman who told me that this system would be able to handle all of the water comming off my step roofs. These no clog gutters did not handle all of the water comming off the roof. Most of the water would pour off the roof over my front entrance to my house when it would rain. I could not enter or exit from my front door. This was after they had put in a couple of rain diverters to alleviate the problem.

The other problem I had was water comming into the bonus room. This caused damage to the drywall and the carpeting in that room. After 3 service calls they finally stoped the water from comming in. The third was 10/21/02 after the general manager Craig came out to inspect for the damage done to my bonus room. The first installers did not flash the gutter properly or caulk joint at the roof and wall. The gutter tilt was also set so it would hold water instead of being tilted so the water would go down the downspout. It took them one month before they could stop the water from getting into this room.

Craig is the general manager who comes out to access water damage. His primary function is to determine whether the damage was caused by improper installations of the Leafguard system or by something else. Craig came out to my house to inspect the water damage his Leafguard system caused he started to minimize the amount of damage that was done. He only wanted to pay 100.00 dollars for the damage. We finally settled on 200.00 dollars to be deducted from the balance due. They were paid in full even while the water continued to pour into the house.

Of course after constantly requesting service for these problems we became the problem family who just could not be satisfied in the eyes of this company. At one point it was suggested that our 3 year old roof might be the problem. Their office girl Ann was constantly rude and abrupt to me when I stated to complain about their lack of concern in fixing the problems.

To fix the original problem of the water pouring off the front of my roof they had to uninstall the Leafguard gutter and install a conventional gutter in place of it. This conventional gutter they don't advertise but use when their systems capacity is inadequate for handling roof water run-off.

In April 2003 I had to call them out again to stop water comming in over my front door near the sofit. Of course their is water damage. It was the same problem again with the flashing and caulking not being installed. It appears the leak has been stop. We have made several calls to Leafguard to Craig for him to come out and access the damage to no avail. It is now near the end of May 2003 and I have spoken to Ann on several different occasions and left messages for Craig again to no avail. No return phone calls or anything. Of course Ann is as abrupt and rude as ever toward us. This Leafguard gutter has a ten year warranty.

I am amazed that this company doesn't give a d**n because this company continues to receive top marks from HomeReports a consumer magazine circulated here in Metro Atlanta. I guess if you piss them off especially the office girl Ann she voids your warranty.

To Those Folks Who Love Thier Gutters

AUTHOR: Rh - (USA)

POSTED: Thursday, February 25, 2010

I am the one who originally filled this report on Leaf Guard. First I want to say I believe your post is fake. The reason I say this is because I don't believe you read my detail posts. I never said my gutters were installed by illegal immigrants. The problems I gave an account of were specific and in detail. The first problem was that we were lied to by their sales rep Ed-Peelman. He is the one who told us there would be no problem with the gutters catching the water off of the front roof that has 3-4 pitches coming together. The roof also has a 9-10 degree pitch. The bottom line is before you start singing the praises of a company read the other post first and try to understand what is being said.

The company lies, doesn't support its warranty.

There is no labor warranty, only a material & workmanship warranty.

The warranty is not transferable.

If you have replace the shingles on your roof and the gutters have to be removed you void your LeafGuard warranty.

In the future read the post before commenting and saying how pleased you are with your gutters and how they solved a problem for you. The pitch on your roof may be less. You may not have multiple valleys coming together. From the many misspelled words in your post I am probably a little more savvy as a consumer than you. Being savvy has nothing to do with it. If I buy something and there is a problem, the company should stand behind their product and fix the problem. All I can say are two things; if you had a good experience good for you. You're one of the lucky ones. If you do have a problem, god bless you because you will be on your own, LeafGuard will not be there! That I guarantee.

we like our leaf guard gutters

AUTHOR: Nancy - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, January 19, 2008

We had a very bad water drainage problem when it rained, and you all know it rains a lot here in Washington State. We had a virtual lake on the sidewalk and driveway. And it would get into the garage. The gutters ahd not been cleaned forever I think and thigns were a mess. We had the leafguard gutters installed last year and we made it thru the whole rainy season without the lake in the front yard. They work jsut fine. The crew that installed them were very professional and they even put in two extra downspouts in the front to help with the water situation. We ahve no complaints. Maybe they jsut do things better up here since we dont have a lot of illeagles and we have an $8.00 minimum wage. and we ahve a lot of laws to protect the consumer AND we have savy consumers who know their rights and what do do. (even the walmart is nicer up here)

#6 UPDATE EX-employee responds

I have seen with my own eyes several times this exact sort of thing, from this company!

AUTHOR: Anonymous - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, January 19, 2008

I was employed by Leafguard for approx. six years. I honestly do not know where to begin. My whole life I have been a hard worker, give my all for the company I work for as well as myself. Pride in my work is number one. The product Leafguard to me in the beginning seemed like a really great product. Beldon Roofing has very strict codes on how the Leafguard must be installed, which also seemed like they cared about there product. As time passed by I began noticing several unique flaws in the design, as well as issues with machine that extrudes the product. Like I said I take pride in my work, and I will not be comfortable if I feel something I am installing will not work as intended to.

I felt it was my responsibility to bring to the attention of my managers of issues that might make the product fail. My superiors basically instructed me to install the product to there specs and leave it at that. Water adhesion is the principle behind the water hugging the system, which enables the rain water to wrap around the hood of the gutter, and enter the system, and debris to fall off and not enter with the rain water. To achieve this, the Leafguard system must maintain exact tolerances. I found that the machines that extrude the gutter would not maintain a consistent adjustment. Not just the one machine, but all of them.

At times the machines would be so bad that a pine cone could actually roll in. One other major problem with the product is even if the machine is perfect, a house with any kind of wave or bend, would cause the Leafguard to distort, throwing the system way out of spec.

After trying and trying to have these issues resolved, I was treated like a wave maker. I was stunned to think that thousands of feet of gutter out there would fail for sure. Beldon began to make me realize that was the least of my worries. They changed our pay structure from hourly to percentage of total sale price of each job.

Installers out there started to care more about slapping as much product up as they could, instead of trying to install a decent product. Believe me that is entirely what they wanted to accomplish. Install as much as possible!! The service calls never stopped coming in, it was horrible. Some people had to wait up to three or four months.

I was constantly asking to have my equipment fixed, and adjusted. This did not happen! Our vehicles where not serviced, the trailers in which we towed the gutter machines where falling apart. Bad brakes, trailer doors would open on highways. The service calls increased and increased. They changed one of the installers into a full time service man and paid his salary with deductions from the rest of the installers! Really upsetting when you make sure your installs are done right, and none of the service calls are your own.

Beldon Roofing does not care for the safety of there employees never mind there customers. The Leafguard Gutter is doomed to fail. Needless to say I could not remain working in those kind of conditions. SHAME ON THEM! Sorry to ramble good luck.

Correction to Leafguard Will Put You on a Do not ServiceThis Address List

AUTHOR: Raymond - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Friday, September 29, 2006

In my update report for 9/25/2006 I incorrectly stated in the second paragraph that companies listed in the Home Reports are paid a 10-15% fee each time that company is hired for a job by the consumer who calls in. The fact is that companies like Leaf Guard pay Home Reports a fee between 10-15% for each job they are hired for through Home Reports. These companies pass the fee they pay to Home Reports onto consumers like us.

Leafguard Will Put You on a Do not ServiceThis Address List

AUTHOR: Raymond - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Monday, September 25, 2006

September 9, 2006

I have since been informed that Leafguard has put us on a Do not Service This Address List. I wanted to see if Leafguard would come out and service our gutters on some non-warranty work which we needed to be done. I was informed that Leafguard had placed my address on a do not service list. The person who told me this was told by Leafguard the reason for this was because I wrote them a bad check and did not pay for my gutters. They then told this person that if he wanted any repair work performed on these gutters he would have to provide them with a copy of the deed showing the house had been sold to him. Otherwise, Leafguard would not do any repair work on these gutters they had installed.

It really made we wonder how a company can be listed as atop rated company in the Home Reports which is a magazine that is delivered to almost every homeowner in GA. I have since learned that companies which are listed in Home Reports are paid a 10-15% fee by these companies each time that company is hired for a job by the consumer who calls in. The company you hire just passes that fee along to you in the price they charge you for the job.

So, now back to Leafguard.
Not only is Leafguard unwilling to stand behind their gutters when there is a problem which is bad in and of itself but they have also told lies about my character to a perfect stranger who had no business relationship with them at all. If the rest of what I have posted isn't bad enough to let you know what type of company you would be dealing with besmirching my characterby calling me a thief takes the cake.

LeafGuard Buyer Beware April 2006

AUTHOR: Raymond - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, April 04, 2006

This is an update on my situation with LeafGuard.
Anyone who is contemplating getting gutters installed by this company should really do thier homework and get a list of some previous customers of LeafGuard and call them up or better yet, go by and talk to these people. I am quite sure there are many more horror stories out there concerning them.

My own sitiuation with LeafGuard has not changed. Craig refused to talk to us at all. I had to get another company named Echols to come and make the reapirs LeafGuard refused to make, to stop the water from leaking into the bonus room. The regular gutters with screens they installed on the front of the house are made of aluminum but the white finish on them must be a cheaper type of finish because they are stained really bad. I cleaned them first with a pressure washer, then with a scrub brush. Unfortunately, the stain is in the white finish. I am going to post some pictures of the work they did and let you be the judge. I will be replacing these gutters with some real guttters very shortly.

LeafGuard Same old Scaming Company

AUTHOR: Raymond - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Saturday, November 20, 2004

Since I wrote my last entry back in March 2004 I wanted to update consumers on what really happened and let you know my reasons for writing what I did back then and where we are today with Leafguard of Georgia.
The rep who I referred to as Rick in my last entry name is really Vick. The rebuttal I wrote back then I wrote under duress from Leafguard. Vick went back to inform the manager of Leafguard-Craig, what are situation was concerning the gutter leaking water into my house. I then received a call from Vick telling me Craig and the parent company were really UPSET that I had posted my problems with them on Rip-Off.com. Vick told me that they would only come out to replace the gutter if I wrote a rebuttal from my first post. Vick also told me that the parent company was thinking of suing me for slander. I guess that was suppose to scare me. So, I wrote the rebuttal because I believed at the time Leafguard was going to do all the things to make us satisfied as per our conversation with Vick. Before I wrote the rebuttal I told Vick I would not have had to write anything if Craig the manger of Leafguard had acted like he cared about the water coming into my house. Craig and Leafguard have only themselves to blame. Vick told us the reason Craig the manager Leafguard did not call us back was because Georgia was having a lot of rain at that time and they were too busy and understaffed to address our needs.. Now mind you it was only after I filled a complaint with the BBB that prompted them to even begin talking to me. It was only after I agreed and wrote the rebuttal to my first posting that prompted them to come back out and replace the gutter.
After, the gutter section was replaced I called Vick and asked him when was Craig the manager going to come out and assess the water damage caused by this faulty, shoddy gutter installation. Vick told me that Craig was not going to come out and do anything or pay for any water damage. What really upset me was the fact that Vick had suggested that we let a Stucco expert inspect the Stucco and let them determine if this was the cause of our water leaking problem which we had agreed to do. So, Craig and Leafguard decided they simply were not responsible for the water damage before I even had a chance to let the Stucco expert make an assessment. As far as they were concerned a faulty, shoddy gutter, installation like the one done on my house was not the cause of the water damage. Gutters will leak water into your house if they are not installed on an pitch toward the downspouts and they forget to put the metal flashing and caulk around where the gutter comes into contact with your roof. Their own senior technician/gutter installer Ben is the one they send out to correct most of their shoddy, incorrect gutter installation problems. He's been out to my house so many times after the initial gutter installation I am surprised he has not quit.
After coming out and replacing the 3 foot section of their Leafguard clog free gutter with some conventional gutter they contacted the BBB and told them they had resolved the problem with me. Monday I will send the BBB a letter informing them this is not the case. Leafguard only responds to the BBB complaints because they do not want to have any blemishes on their record. The reason being is because the BBB is usually the first place people check these companies out with.
Because water continues to leak into my Bonus room I went into the Attic to find the source of the leak. To my surprise I found what is a hole in the roof wood about the size of lemon. The only thing covering the hole is the roof shingle with staples punch through it. That damage is from the outside of the roof in. Like someone jammed a crowbar through the wood and covered it with a roof shingle. We had this house inspected before we brought it. Our inspector was very thorough. He caught all of the things that were wrong this house and the former owners had to fix them. One of the things we found out was the entire roof had been replaced the year before we moved into the house. All we can surmise from this discovery is that maybe on of the gutter installers from Leafguard was having a bad day when my gutters were installed that day. Rest assured it's not over with yet. Stay tuned. I will provide pictures in a minute.

LeafGuard Doing The Right Thing

AUTHOR: Raymond - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Tuesday, March 30, 2004

Since I wrote this letter last year Leafguard has come back to the table to address all of the concerns pertaining to the water damage. The sent out a really knowledgeable representative named Rick, who has over 25 years of experience installing gutters. According, to Rick they have also stopped using high schoolers with no experience to install the gutters or make repairs. They have a quality team of professionals performing all of their installs and repairs. Rick has recommended replacing the section of gutter where the water damage occured by installing a new type of clog free gutter they have developed. He has also told me that LeafGuard is going to do whatever it takes to satisfy us; concerning the inside damage to the house, if it's determined the damage was their responsibility. Rick believes, The customer is not the enemy. We want to make sure your are satisfied". I agree. Doing the right thing by making sure the customer is satisfied when the job is complete is what reputable companies do. Their new approach and attitude will go a long way in keeping the customers like myself happy.
