I've been trying to get my furniture from Levitz for 2 1/2 months now. It's in their warehouse, but in my opinion, they want us to walk away from the purchase so they can sell it to someone else for more money than we paid.

I have had at least six delivery dates scheduled by them, and I keep receiving letters saying production has been delayed. The fourth or fifth time, I didn't receive anything. I logged on to their website and looked at the delivery date that way the day before it was supposed to be delivered because I wasn't able to get through on the phone. I then called the store manager, and he assured me that although they had filed Chapter 11 bankruptcy the week after we purchased the furniture, we would be getting the furniture and production was almost back to normal. He even offered to refund me my money, but I told him that I wanted the furniture.

Well, on Nov. 28th I found out that delivery was now postponed until Jan. 25th. So I mailed letters to the Office of the Attorney General who is supposed to be monitoring Levitz's promise to the bankruptcy court that they will honor existing customers' orders, and also to the Department of Consumer Protection and emailed copies to Levitz.

The following day I received an email from Levitz saying that my furniture was in the warehouse and would be delivered to me in two days. Tomorrow will be two days.

When I tried to log on to their website this morning to check the delivery date, I just kept on getting a message that the site no longer exists. I emailed the woman who had sent me the note saying I would have the furniture in two days and went to work. When I came home, I had received another email saying it's postponed again. Now their site is working again, but when I log on, I no longer have an existing order, nor a scheduled delivery date. I just don't exist any longer.

It's amazing to me that after I wrote the letters to the AG and consumer protection, the furniture just happened to appear in the warehouse. I found out today that the salesman hasn't worked at the store in 2 months, and I can only imagine why he's not there now.

We did get a good price on the furniture and are on a deferred payment plan, so they have every reason to want us to walk away from this sale. I just don't understand how they think they're going to get away with this. They're being monitored by the State of Connecticut, and I'm sure I'm not the only person this is happening to.

I will never, ever buy anything from Levitz again, even if they're bought out by another company through this bankruptcy. If I didn't love this furniture so much and could find the something similar somewhere else, I would have taken my deposit back months ago and gone somewhere else because it's pretty obvious that Levitz has no intention of delivering.
