Liberty Medical Total rip off Arkansas
*UPDATE EX-employee responds: Why
Liberty Medical is a total rip off. They charged my insuance $102.00 for a bottle of Accucheck blood test strips. I found out that my insuance paid its 60% and left me with the 40 %, That isn't the problem with me.
The problem is, they are wanting me to pay the 40 % which comes to $40.00. You can buy the same blood test strips at Walmart for less that $40.00. I don't see the reasoning behind this.
Why would anyone pay Liberty Medical more money than what they would cost at walmart. I think a 60% profit is a total rip off, this is a prime example why health insurance is so high today.

Why

Here is how it works. You may not be, but I believe you are referring to Liberty Pharmacy, there is a difference.
Liberty Medical bills based on what the Medicare allowable amount is. This is based on the assumption that your deductible(s) have been met. Let's say Liberty's retail value is $210.00 and Medicare's allowable amount is $100.00. If you had Medicare as your insurance, you would be responsible for $20.00.
Since you do not appear to have Medicare (because of the 60/40 split) then you are probably a customer of Liberty Pharmacy. If they have a contract with the insurance company and $102.00 is the set amount then part of Liberty's contract with your insurance company stipulates that you have to pay 40% which would be the balance you were billed. If you have an issue with this amount it is something that you should inquire with your insurance company as to why they agreed on such a high price if you feel that way.
You may be using an out of network provider when you use Liberty. If this is the case you may want to contact your insurance company to see who is a contracted provider to get you the best deal for your money. Technically speaking, if Liberty IS an out of network provider you could pay even more. If Liberty's retail amount is $240 and your insurance company only paid $62.00 you could get stuck paying the remaining $178 just because you used an out of network provider. It really does pay to be familiar with your in and out of network providers.
I hope this helped. :o)
