I ordered a product from this company, the 25lb pricing was $7.50...The 10lb price was a few dollars more..the 3lbs price was a few dollars more than that, you get the idea.

They shorted me 5lbs of that 25lb order, firstly, and did not follow up and inform me in any way.

I attempt to reorder another 25lbs a week later.  Website confirms $7.50 pricing still for the 25lb bag of material...I order...I get an invoice that confirms this order.  I also checked the "2 day ship" option paying more for a faster delivery.

***FIVE days later I get a phone call from Jake, who explains he only has 3 lbs left in stock and "Do you still want us to ship just the three pounds".  I say yes, and to back order the other 22bls for when it re-stocks.

He then sends me an invoice stating my price for the 3lbs being sent will be charged at the 3lb bag price of the **NEW pricing for the material...$28.08.  I'm buying the last three pounds of an old Lot and he's not only charging me the new Lot pricing(pricing went up when they had to order more) but forcing me to pay the three pound price...because they ran out.

We have words. I demand to speak to a manager(who's conveniently not in). He says he will be getting back to me.  ZERO customer service skills and quite frankly this person is either feighning a lack of intelligence or really is an idiot.

Here is what I emailed him.

"Per our conversation, I am forwarding the invoice I received from your company per my purchase online.  This states a price of $7.50lb when ordering a 25# bag.  This was my confirmed pricing for a 25# bag granted it was last weeks pricing, THIS was the pricing that was confirmed.  At that time I'm sure the pricing for a 3# bag was just a few dollars higher than that, and this assumption you confirmed.

You called me to inform me you only have #3 left of this material and if that would be acceptable to just ship 3# and back order the rest.  We agreed on that solution.

Since Friday when I ordered, you have raised your pricing in your system to reflect the new cost per the new order from the manufacturer.  I understand the new material will be more expensive and has more than doubled the cost.  Not your fault, I get it.

However, The old material is what I am purchasing, not the new. The old material is what I was quoted.  The old quote is what I agreed upon.  Not only did you run out(I understand), not only have you upped the pricing on my invoice without requesting my permission(which would be illegal if you actually charged my credit card more than what my invoice expressed) But you have demanded I pay the three pound pricing! And the Newest pricing on the old material!!!

I am willing to compromise and pay the three pound pricing, But The OLD three pound pricing. "

His response the next day is that he would be willing to reduce the price to $16.76 the new 25lb pricing... I'm furious.

These guys are the WORST. I'm the purchaser for a multi million dollar manufacfturing comapny, and I will be sharing my experience.

Response by Liberty Natural Products

AUTHOR: Jim Dierking CEO - (USA)

POSTED: Thursday, June 18, 2015

Liberty Natural appreciates the cooperation and clarification posted by our customer, a large natural products manufacturer, which has resolved the issues between us. We have continued to do business together and look forward to serving their future needs. As Liberty Natural was unaware of this report until several months after our customers concerns were addressed, it played no constructive role in addressing their concerns. Liberty Natural has been in business since 1982, and has realized historical gross sales in excess of $80,000,000.00 and fulfilled in excess of 300,000 orders in 33 years of business. Our record and reputation in the natural products industry demonstrates that mistakes are the exception and that customer service excellence is the rule. Our hard earned reputation is our most important asset. We acquire and retain our customers primarily through word of mouth referral by providing price competitive quality natural products and excellent customer service. Liberty Naturals best interests are met by serving customers timely and correctly in delivering orders and routinely working out exceptional problems with the least possible burden to Liberty’s customers. It is our policy to respond to internet complaints to explain what occurred in the transaction and how it was resolved. In this circumstance we find an additional need to post, because our customer informed us that this report was posted because they had discovered and read two derogatory Ripoff Reports filed in 2009. The 2009 reports are the subject of defamation claims pending in a Palm Beach, Florida court that we filed in 2010. Ripoff Reports are permanent and highly visible. Ripoff Report does not verify the truthfulness of reports and they cannot be removed even when a court determines that they are false and defamatory. Liberty Natural wishes to allay the concerns and reactions to these reports by its customers and prospective customers, but unfortunately, as this circumstance has shown, not everyone will read through to the responses and may only be left with the first impression of the caption of the initial post and the tendency to believe that a report must be true if it was published. Liberty Natural will post details of the defamation claim determination when a final judgment of the court has been entered. The background and history of the transaction referred to in this report involved an order for 25# of a powdered herb for which we only had 15# in stock that was shipped December 1, 2014. Our customer raised valid concerns to Liberty Natural that involved unintentional clerical errors related to fulfillment of a $101 backorder. The issue was set in motion when a backorder was not created, pricing records were not updated to reflect the new inventory pricing and the original order quantity price break was not given. As related in the report, on the afternoon of December 16, our customer contacted our representative about their concerns and was advised that the requested corrections required the customer service managers approval, who was not available at the time. The following day, December 17, when Liberty Natural's customer service manager returned to work, our customers request for correction was approved, but was not timely communicated to our customer as it should have been. Our customer, who we had not yet been informed of our favorable action, discovered and read the two derogatory Ripoff reports filed against Liberty Natural in 2009. It is our understanding that those reports inspired our customer to file this Ripoff Report in the early evening of December 17. On December 18, in response to our customers further request for correction, Liberty Natural provided several responses, which included a written response and apology that affirmed the requested corrections, sale of the product below Liberty Natural's cost and a credit for the 2nd day air shipping surcharge, as an apology for the pricing misquote. Our customer acknowledged in an email that day, "I'm very happy this was explained to me and broken down. This is the type of customer service and explanation I was looking for." In March of 2015, months after this matter was resolved, Liberty Natural was dismayed to discover the content of this report at a website named Scamorg.com. Our research indicates that Scamorg.com is another "complaint" website located in Moscow, Russia, that replicates or copies the content of other complaint websites. Later, in May 2015, we discovered this Ripoff report. Thereafter, our customer informed us that they did not file the report at Scamorg.com, but acknowledged this report was filed after they discovered and read the 2009 reports. The permanency of internet publications and their effects are a matter of public concern for everyone. In this instance, our customer proposed to have Ripoff Report remove this report to address our concerns about its content. Unfortunately, once a Ripoff Report has been filed it cannot be removed, even when requested by the author. The RipoffReport.com terms of service agreement transfers the rights or ownership to each filed report to Ripoff Reports and they also have a policy of non-removal of all reports. Ripoff Report offers a paid reputation repair program to "remediate" the reputation of companies who are the targets of reports, but has no provision for the removal of reports that have been found to be false and defamatory. Scamorg.com, which replicates contents from other complaint sites, also has a policy of non-removal and a for profit reputation remediation program. The courts do not have the authority to compel the removal of reports that have been found to be false and defamatory, because of the protection extended to internet publishers by the Community Decency Act passed by Congress. Ripoff Report.com enjoys a superior SEO rating which often returns their reports on the first page of the search engine results and makes their typical incendiary report headings highly visible. Unfortunately, other information posted on the internet to explain, respond to or counter such reports, is more often than not, less visible and likely will not be seen or read, as they are often either buried lower in the search engine pages or the reader does not read past the original post to the responses. The circumstances of this report demonstrate that the permanent Ripoff Reports and their replications at other websites can promote the filing of other reports, which can create a s****.>

Customer service has improved since my original report

POSTED: Thursday, June 04, 2015

I wish to follow up on our December 17, 2014, complaint filed here at Ripoff Report against Liberty Natural Products.  On December 18, 2014, our concerns were addressed by Liberty Natural to our satisfaction.  As the matter has been fully resolved and we have continued to do business with Liberty Natural, we wish provide the following clarifications to our original report at their request.

Liberty Natural did not charge us for goods that had not been shipped .  We did not mean to convey that we had been short changed in any way.  Liberty Natural only charged us for the quantity shipped.

It was not our intention to convey that Liberty Natural's customer service manager was purposefully unavailable as part of an effort to take advantage of us.  By posting at the RipoffReport.com website we were only complaining of clerical errors and did not mean to convey that Liberty Natural was a ripoff, a scam or that it had engaged in any predatory or unfair trade practices against us.

The report was posted in haste and upset because of dissatisfaction with a Liberty Natural employee for delay in addressing clerical errors, unavailability of the customer service manager that day and a reaction to two other Ripoff Reports, filed in 2009, that we discovered, read and believed.  Those reports conveyed that Liberty Natural was a scam and had a history of taking advantage of its customers and others. We did not and do not have knowledge of any facts that support that the 2009 Ripoff Reports were true.
