My name is Dr. Wayne Mucci, who had previously worked as an employee for Lifestyle Lift.  I am presenting my rebuttal to this complaint now, as I just recently became aware that this had been posted to the internet, directed at the company and myself, and would like to clarify a variety of inaccurate information within the complaint.  

I would like to first point out that I was with Lifestyle Lift for eight years and never have heard of the techniques that the ENT physician Nancy has quoted has referred to.  I am a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon who has done over 2,000 successful facial procedures and never used the surgical methods that are being reported in this complaint. As an employee of Lifestyle Lift, and the acting physician, we were not trained in any specific surgical methods, that were proprietary to Lifestyle Lift. Rather each doctor performed the full neck and face lift based upon their Board Certified training from medical school. Lifestyle Lift did not recruit and train doctors to do their lift, but rather recruited quality doctors who had experience, training and background to perform procedures based upon the doctors own expertise.

Whomever, the referenced ENT doctor Nancy is referring to was definitely incorrect regarding the Fort Lauderdale centers surgical methods, as for the eight years that I practiced there, no such procedures described by him were done there, either by myself or any other doctor that practiced in that facility. Based upon the information that was disseminated to Nancy by this anonymous ENT doctor, which is inaccurate, the post surgery complications are not a result of any stitching techniques or surgical methods as reported. 

In my medical opinion, as a Board Certified Plastic Surgeon, the reported complications: tinnitus, carotid artery blockage, dental problems and tooth loss have no direct correlation to the surgery that I performed.  These complications simply have no medically based correlation to the face lift surgery performed by me and I certainly can provide an independent expert physician to testify to that fact.

In review of Nancys chart, I have summarized the followup care provided by myself.  The face lift was done July 2013.  In October 2013 followup, I offered a free touch up for the neck.  Nancy was seen six times between October 2013 and December 2014.  She also had three cancellations/no shows during that period.  On several visits we did routine followup injections to her scars.  

Lifestyle Lift close without notice to its employees and terminated all employees in the beginning of 2015, and filed bankruptcy. As her physician of record, I offered her a no charge scar excision of her ear at my new private practice in March 2015. She scheduled the procedure with me, but called the office and cancelled the procedure, due to other medical issues.  She informed us she would call to reschedule when she was able to proceed.  To date, August 12, 2016, she has not rescheduled.  

I still am available and willing to provide the scar excision at no charge, in my private practice and would recommend that she come in and take advantage of this complimentary treatment.  Although, I worked at Lifestyle Lift just as an employee and had no ownership, I have continued to care for patients from Lifestyle Lift, without any compensation.

My interest has always been and will always be the patient first and I stand behind my reputation as being a highly recommended and very skilled plastic surgeon.
