Liquid Dreams Pools - Liquid Dreams Custom Pools, LDCP Pool builder ripoff Austin Texas

We contracted with this outfit, owned/run by Patt Daugherty, in 2005 to build a $80,000 pool. We did our due dilligence -- checked the BBB and references and all was fine. Construction went quickly at first, but by the time the beginning of 2006 came around, getting anything done was like pulling teeth. Basically, subcontractors weren't getting paid and it was just lucky that we didn't wind up with any liens (others were not so lucky and this guy owes contractors in the tens of thousands of dollars).

We finally gave up and finished the pool ourselves -- obtained a judgment against Liquid Dreams Pools but since the secretary of state revoked the company's charter, the company no longer exists and our attorney says there is nothing to go after. It turns out that he had a similar business in Flower Mound, Texas (Patt's Sun City Pools and Spas) that shut down under similar circumstances, leaving vendors and customers holding the bag. The BBB was unaware of this connection and immediately ejected him when we pointed out this connection.

A local TV station, Seven On Your Side, investigated Liquid Dreams and ran a report in September of 2006 where Patt admitted to having substance abuse problems, blaming that all his troubles. See

I post this because, despite all these problems, he is trying to start up again under the Liquid Dreams name. Please, please, if you're thinking of building a pool and he bids on it, run, don't walk the other way as, even if he now means well (which is doubtful), if the criminal investigation goes the way we all expect, he won't be able to build any pools for a good long while.
