Many people call to say that they didn't get their statments after they stop paying on their accts. We verify the address & see if we have been sending it to the wrong address. If the address is incorrect, we fix it. The customer should have a sense of responsibility to notify their creditors when the change theor contact information. We however remove all penalties because legally if they didn't get the statment we can't legally penalize them. We often get calls from people that claim they never got their statments, but we can see that there is no ' returned mail ' on the acct.
Most times this is because people send in the paid in full amont & (it takes snail mail about 7 days now) it gets here a day or two late. If it gets here after 5 pm on the due date it is late. Untill it is sent to the proffit & loss dept., the months go by & the ballance going unpaid gives late fees ( which are usually $39 a month) & compounding intersest month after month after month after month. Macy's is not responsible if people don't pay their debts responsibly. Many people choose to trash their credit by refusing to pay their debts.
The bottom line is that when you pay off a bill, check to make sure that you haven't negalently coused other expenses that you choose to dismiss because in your opinion they shouldn't be there.
