I received a call today stating i had won 2600.00 travel dollars towards a trip to a resort, one of four 'they' own,  in Cancun, Mexico. When I asked how they got my name and number, they said RCI shared it with them (I am an RCI member). This went a little way to make me trust them, because RCI is a legitimate entity. With the 'credit' of 2600.00 dollars, all that remained for me to pay was 349.00 USD. They clearly stated I was responsible for airfare, hotel taxes and a one-time fee of 59.00 USD for registration/handling fees.

This price of 349.00 USD was for 6d/5n in the resort, and then because I was Not an easy sell (we were on the phone for 45min while they answered my questions and tried to ease my distrust and reassure me they were 'legit', as the spanish-accented women said, and if they wanted to rip me off, they would have given up '20 min ago'). They went on to sweeten the deal by throwing in a free, all-inclusive cruise to the Bahamas for 4d/3n from a port of my choosing (3 cities to choose from).

I still was feeling very distrustful of this whole offer, and as I said to the Spanish-accented woman, when something sounds too good to be true, it usually is. She reassured me it was just an awesome deal in an effort to promote their new resort and sell timeshares for it. All i needed to do was authorize the initial installment of 150.00 USD on my credit card, and then the remaining 199.00 USD, would be taken from my credit card in 3 monthly payments of 66.00 each. I told her that at this time I didn't have any room on my card and that the card would be refused.

So, refused it was. The third women who was dealing with the verification of my 'registration', had a british accent, and reassured me the conversation was being recorded so I would have legal protection. She also told me it was no worry my card had been declined, they would simply try again on a date  I agreed to.

I hung up and decided to check out their website. Strangely, although it looks like the real thing, I was unable to search through it, none of the photo galleries opened and it was circular in design-I got nowhere. My next step was to phone RCI and confirm they had shared my information with this company. I was informed they do Not share personal information with any other companies. She advised me to promptly call the appropriate authorities.

I called my credit card company. LISTEN CAREFULLY- I then found out from the credit card representative that the company had indeed endeavored to charge my card, as I had authorized them to do-but they hadn't tried for the 150.00 USD, as they told me they were-they tried for 100.00 USD. Why you may ask? I had already told them I had no available credit, which as I stated, they said was ok, they would take my credit card info Anyways and try at a later date. They tried for an amount they thought might work!

SO, I cancelled my credit card, which across the board is the safest thing to do, they cannot charge my card under the name of the company they had given me, or any other entity for that matter.

STAY CLEAR OF THIS COMPANY! And my personal theory is that Beatrice at the bottom of the first page of submitted reports of other ripped off individuals, Works for this company, and thus her glowing report!!!

By the way, the reason I answered the call in the first place (I do not answer 1-800 anything) was because it was a local Alberta number that looked like a cell number. I only realized after the fact, how strange it was that in the conversation the spanish-accented woman (who was named strangely enough-Yoma) told me she was calling from Cancun, personally sitting in the office at the resort.

It is always best to hire someone skilled to do so, unfortunately in most cases these companies dedicated to cancel timeshares usually cheat for the second time to their customers since they are vulnerable and desperate. If you are thinking of hiring them you just have to make sure you do not have to make any payment upfront.
I found this article that speak precisely about this, you should read it, that might help you to resolve many doubts:
