Martin and Lane; Susan Lane Sent me an email saying I was being considered for a job I'd applied for the day before Internet

I received the following communication the day after applying for a data entry job in Brooklyn:

"Hi Veronica------, 

"Thank you for applying for the opening "Data Entry Position Available" this position is currently listed in Brooklyn, New York with a pay of $41,500. 

"We have completed our initial review of the applications, and are happy to inform you that you have been accepted by our client for a further interview. 

"This stage closes on Friday, August 2nd at 9pm, so its very important you complete the online screening before this date, submissions after this date will not be accepted. Your interview will be scheduled for the following week. 

"Please go to the following address to complete the interview booking: 

http://www.martinandlane.com/interview.php?applicantid=cm9uc2hvZkB2ZXJpem9uLm5ldA== 

"Please be sure to set aside at least 10 minutes to complete the submission. You will not be able to restart the process, it can only be completed once. Once submitted we will contact you within a few days to arrange your interview date. Please be sure to complete all parts of the screening. Incomplete screenings will be not be accepted. 

"We recommend that you complete the screening on a computer, rather than a mobile phone or tablet, to ensure that you can complete the process. 

"Thanks, 

"Susan Lane

I filled out the questionnaire, which then directed me to CREDITREPORT.COM to complete a credit check for $1, which I did. I went to the Martin and Lane website, which looked very sophisticated, and was confident that they'd be calling me for an interview.  Two days later when I hadn't heard back from them, I tried to go to the Martin and Lane website but it was no longer there.  Neither was Susan Lane's email address functioning.

I don't know what they are going to do with my credit information, but this is terrifying for me. I am cancelling my "membership" in CreditReport.com for which I paid $1 by credit card, and I hope there is no further trouble for me, but this has been very disturbing and I hope someone gets to the bottom of this scam and makes them PAY.
