I am currently seeking employment and received an email addressed to my proper first and last name. It seemed like a legitimate response to an online ad I may have applied for. It knew what city I was applying for the job.
I went to the web site through the link in the email and it presented a list of application pertinent questions that I completed. It also presented a calendar that you could mark to indicate date available for an interview and date for starting work. After submitting the info, it took to a page that indicated you must request a copy of your credit report for $1 and it was an ad for credit monitoring services that you must cancel in 7 days or you will be billed for further services.
Although they claim that you only have to provide them with the confirmation number after you submit the request, they claim they do not have actual access to the credit report.
I then went to their website which seemed legit and professional. It provided an address location in Flowood (MS) and a toll free number, but failed to place what state they were located in. I decided to google their company and found nothing on them.
I contacted the Secretary of State for MS and found no business name for them on record.
I called the leasing office for the address they were using and they are not in their records as having an office in their complex at that address. It appears they are using the address as a "shell" for their business location. I called their phone# and it is automated with 2 choices; one for employers seeking candidates and one for employees with issues with ther application process. I entered #1 and it said that all persons were busy and to leave a message. I am concerned that others may fall for this tactic without looking further into the company and possibly give access to their credit history.
Here is a copy of the original email I received:

One major RED Flag with the email that I received this morning is that it read
"This stage closes on Friday, August 2nd at 9pm, so its very important you complete the online screening before this date, submissions after this date will not be accepted. Your interview will be scheduled for the following week."
Today is Aug 9th 2013. I was hopeful that this was just a clerical mistake. But after searching for the company online and reading these reports I'm very dissappointed that another company is out here taking advantage of innocent people seeking to find employment.
I've also found that the domain for their website was only created 16/17 days ago. July 24, 2013. Surely this makes it clear that this is not a company that is seasoned and their reputation is already dead. It seems to have been created for this scam.

I am not surprised to see all the reports after my report beginning to pop up on this site. For the record, I didn't proceed with the credit bureau processing. That's when I decided to stop the process & research the company. Hopefully, this was only a ploy to get people signed up for credit monitoring and not for identity theft. Thankfully, I'm a fraud investigator by trade, so gut feelings are standard, therefore, all the investigating I decided to do. I'm not one to let criminals get away with these kinds of things. I recommend filing a report with ic3.gov as they will likely investigate this or turn it over to the proper authorities. I wish you all the best of luck and hope your credit doesn't suffer as a result. If you haven't contacted all 3 credit reporting companies, it would be a good idea. Contacting just 1 isn't enough.

How did you give them your social? I only put in mine when I filled out the creditreport.com application to sign up for the free trial... Now I'm second guessing myself.
