My complaint is virtually identical to the hundreds of other complaints I have read about Massage Envy.
I had a previous pre-paid package with this company. I had an accident rustling in a head injury and never used up 3 of my pre-paid massages. When I went to the local Massage Envy in Vista (my pre-paids had been set up in the Oceanside Massage Envy) several months after my recovery I was advised by the receptionists that my sessions expired and were no longer valid. I had medical documentation as well as the name of the person in Oceanside I had called last year to freeze the unused massages, and the employees still argued with me. They said they would leave message with their manager to check with the corporate office for me and they offered me an introductory rate massage.

I booked the one massage and made it very clear to the girls I was NOT going to sign up or join for any packages.  When I returned the following week for the massage they again tried to sell me on a package. I re iterated that I was not interested in doing this and wanted to know if they had followed through with my request to have the unused paid massages re instated with the manager. I was informed that they had not been able to reach the manager yet. They asked me to sign a basic information form. I did NOT give them any bank information and I did NOT give them any credit card information.

I ended up leaving the hour massage after 30 minutes as the girl was horrible and had hurt my leg even after being told specifically to avoid  the area my arthritis was located in. I told the girls why I was leaving and I paid for just that 1 massage with a credit card. I told them the service was disgusting and  I would not be returning  ever again.Linda

Fast Forward: Jan. 2013

I received a phone call from a male claiming to be with "such and such" law firm representing massage Envy in Vista California. He said I had to make restitution for an amount which was in excess of 700.00
dollars or he would be reporting me to the credit bureaus. This was left on my cell phone in a voice mail.
I got no answer when I tried to call this number 631 656 0051 and there was no law firm voice recording to leave a message, so I looked it up on the internet. I discovered it was a landline installed by "such and such",Inc in Suffolk County, Smithtown New York 11787. I further investigated this number and it was not affiliated with any Law Firm under the businesses in that area. I never received anything in the mail.
I have yet to obtain a recent copy of my credit report, but these practices  go against what I have read regarding the Fair credit reporting act. After several more days of research I discovered there are thousands of complaints against this company from almost every state in the country.

More than enough for all of us to contact local media, and also file complaints with the FTC:https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/ , and the attorney general. There are many BBB complaints against them as well.

it would certainly seem there is more than enough wrong with this companies tactics for a complete expose or investigation.

There would seem to be  a more than sufficient number  of outraged consumers, we can stop them from getting away with this.

I have all pertinent documentation, A witness who was with me  both times I was in massage envy, and all of the internet records have been screen clipped  and saved. My searches and databases used are also well documented. Kind of hard for anyone in there right mind to to call hundreds and thousands around the country in most of the states all with essentially the same complaints against this unethical company.

It is absurd to think you can get money from consumers when they never even provided you with credit card or bank information. Massage was paid with a prepaid credit card!

So you signed an agreement which was for a certain length of time. You failed to either come into any one of 850 Massage Envy clinics throughout America OR to share your prepaid massages during that time period and Massage Envy is at fault?? Give me a break. have you ever thought who was responsible for your failure to come in to get your own massages?

Think about it this way-You lease a house which you own to someone for 12 months. They pay on time but at the end of the lease they call you up & say "Look Mr. Landlord, we were out of the country for 3 months during the year & were not in the house at all so you need to let us stay in the house for another 3 months without paying you any more money!" What do you think you'd say? "Well, of course, you can stay for another 3 months for free because it's totally my fault that you chose to not be in the house for those 3 months." I think not.

Now as to your blatently false statements thast you did not sign an agreement, that you did not give them your credit card information, but they just decided on their own to activate an membership agreement on their own? Are you kidding me?

Unbelievable. You owe the money. Pay the business what you owe. And stop lying in the meantime and face up to your own responsibilities for once.
