At first I requested Summit Van Lines for a quote and it was the only binding estimate I recieved, it was based on weight and the amount was reasonable. I decided to go with that quote and set up a date for pickup because I thought my stuff weighed less than estimated cubic feet. On the appointed day August 17th 2013, instead of Summit Van lines showing up a company called Master movers did. We asked them for the tear weight of the truck and they stated they didn't go on weight they go by cubic feet. I immediately called summit who assured me it was ok but I had no way of knowing how much my stuff weighed. I needed my stuff transported so I decided to let them go ahead. Nowhere on the paperwork does it state a windo for delivery. When I pressed them on this they didn't know.

I hadn't heard from them in 2 weeks so I called them to ask them and they stated they still didn't know. I also informed Luis to give me a few days notice to get payment together and to get time off work. He told me that they would. I was going to call them again tomorrow (9/9/2013) but yesterday Saturday 9/7 I got a call supposedly from a driver from Master movers telling me my stuff was in Atlanta and that they would be in Tampa today (9/8). I told them that was not going to work because the banks close at noon and I can't get the certified funds or cash together until monday evening as I can't take time off my new job and I can't take delivery until then either. I called the office and they stated there was nothing they could do because I knew they had my stuff and I should have a large payment just sitting around my house waiting for them to get here. They said they would take a credit card but I do not have a credit card with a large enough limit and when I informed family what was going on they wouldn't allow me to use their card because it sounded like a scam when they call at that time on a saturday and then all of a sudden say they will accept a card and there is no way of knowing how much they were actually going to put on the card Monday evening was not sunday so at first they wanted $1000 extra to redeliver.

Now they want me to pay $150 plus the cost of a UHaul to go to an as yet unnamed storage facilty in Fort Lauderdale, four hours away to pick it up but they won't give me the address and I can't go inspect my stuff before I pay. I have to pay and then drive to Fort Lauderdale. I now believe that my stuff is not in the state of Florida and they had no intention of ever delivering it until somehow someway they get more money out of me because the original quote provided by Summit Van Lines wasn't enough. The timing of the call at 11.45am on a saturday 15 minutes before banks close when the truck is already in Atlanta plus now they want me to go to Fort Lauderdale or pay $1000 for redelivery. I am not going to keep a money order for a large amount of money or a large amount of cash in my apartment. Nobody would. Plus all of a sudden I can pay with a credit card when the contract states that only certified funds would do and in all contact with them they stated only certified funds. I don't blame members of my family for not letting me use their credit card because it sounds shady to anyone.

If the only positive reiews you can point to are on your own website, it makes me think that you made those reviews yourself.  Nowhere else on  the internet are there any positive reviews.

I did not directly hire this company

Beware of both Summit Van Lines and Master Movers!

At anytime that there is a disagreement regarding services performed and the facts of the situation the parties involved could spend hours going back and forth.

Master Movers definitely apologizes that this customer feels as though they were being taken advantage in anyway and it is not our practice to deal with our customers in this fashion. With are confident that the changes we have made internally with processes/policies we are on the correct path to show consumers what a great company we are and that we are here to provide a service. Please see the many reviews posted on our website which reflect these changes and have made our customers satisfied enough to offer us their opinions. The good reviews are great...the bad ones are training lessons! Master Movers works extremely hard to provide great service and take very serious when we do not.

What the company wrote is complete total and utter crap!

They never informed me where my stuff was. They never called me multiple times.   In fact, when I called them a few days prior to them delivering they stated they had no idea when my stuff would be delivered and that it was still in their warehouse in Indianapolis.  The first I heard of a delivery was when the truck was in Atlanta on a saturday morning at 11.45am.  They had my stuff for over a month.  I had to call them to find things out.  There was a complete lack of communication.

I realized that I could replace my stuff for cheaper than what they were asking to bring my furniture.

This was a complete scam to get more money out of me given the timing of the phone call on a saturday morning.  I did eventually get my stuff for the originally agreed upon price but only after I contacted the Indiana Attorney General and the BBB and forwarded them documentation and records of what happened.

Do not use this company or Summit Van lines for your move under any circumstances.  If you do use them be prepared to fight every step of the way!

We are very upset to hear that this was the customer's experience with us on a long distance move. Without having the customers name and specifics I can only say that it sounds like a "1st date available for delivery" was changed by the customer. Our practice here at Master Movers is to inform our long distance customer of their timeframe once they tell us when they will be ready for delivery. We do not send trucks for long distance deliveries without the confirmation and consent of our customers. Once a truck leaves our facility to make a long distance delivery there are many phone calls made to the customer to ensure they are kept up to date as to the trucks estimated time of arrival (and sometimes we have to account for weather conditions, driving conditions for delays).  If a customer changes their need and decides they are not ready to accept delivery once the truck has arrived there are no other options other than that the items are put in a storage unit for the customer or the customer authorizes someone else to accept the delivery for them. If items have to be put in storage and then brought back out to the customer by our (or any delivery company) there is most definitely a "redelivery" fee due. If a customer refuses to pay the charges outline in their (or additional fees due to the changes they made)  then the items can not be released to the customer. We strive to work and compromise with all customers to ensure that as the needs of the customer may change while in the middle of a move we at Master Movers can accomodate them.
