As Is. No Warranty Expressed or Implied

AUTHOR: William - (U.S.A.)

POSTED: Thursday, September 22, 2005

Pam,
It is frustrating to have something so vital to survival not working. However, I'm sure you recall the As Is, No Warranty window sticker in the vehicle that you purchased. You also signed a Buyers Agreement that is a standard document required by the State of Texas. In this Buyers Agreement you agreed to numerous things. One of which is that you understood that you had the right to take the vehicle to a qualified mechanic for inspection BEFORE you purchased it. No one likes to have a broken down car to pay for, but after having a brand new 1999 vehicle in the shop ten times for the same transmission problem myself I understand. A car company can only do their best to ensure a product is good before they sell it. They don't have time to put the hard miles on a vehicle to test it out. The used car dealerships also have to weed through the trash that the auction tries to pass off on them.

Next time you go to buy a used car, do your work and get the car checked out by a certified mechanic BEFORE you start pointing the finger. The car clearly passed basic drivability testing or it wouldn't have been up for sale. The rest of the fine tooth screening is your job as the consumer. If you don't like that, then start writing letters to the Office of the Consumer Credit Commissioner or your local state senator or representative.
