The antennae on my Motorola cell phone model #V235 came unscrewed and was lost. The phone works pretty good without it, but I still want to replace the antennae. The phone is past warranty, so I called Motorola to purchase a replacement antennae. They won't sell me one. They insist that I must send the cell phone back to them to have it replaced. This makes no sense -- there's no wiring needed, no cracking of a case, no "service" involved. It's just something you screw into place. Anyone could do it.
Apparently, this is Motorola's way of encouraging you to buy a new cell phone. Well, it worked. I'm buying one -- from another company. I will never buy a Motorola product again.

The handset is out of warranty, and although it's fairly simple to replace your antenna, it's still considered an "Out of Warranty" repair. They're going to charge you $75 for the repair.
I currently work for a PCS company, and I'm a Motorola certified technician. If WE are unable to repair an issue with a phone, they charge US $75 to fix it.

Motorola actually sent me an email in which they offered to "fix" my cell phone. All they wanted was for me to return it to them, along with $75, and allow them 8 to 10 days to "fix" it and return it to me.
The "fix" would involve taking a $4.99 antennae from the supply shelf and screwing it into the cell phone.
Thanks, but no thanks. What I wanted was for them to sell me an antennae that I could "install" myself. They refused. I wound up buying one from a third party for $4.99. Actually, if Motorola had simply suggested that I could purchase them from third parties, I would even have been happy with that, but they acknowledged no such option.
