On November 8, 2004 I enrolled in MTC driving school for driver training, that afternoon I failed the urine glucose test portion of the D.O.T. (Department of Transportation) physical. The following day I was given a follow-up urine glucose test to verify the previous diagnoses. It also showed positive.
The Education Coordinator (Debbie Lancaster) put me on medical leave from MTC to seek a doctor. At that point I expressed concerns about my tuition costs (as I had payed for the training myself) and she assured me that if I was unable to pass the D.O.T. physical, my tuition, less one nights lodging and two meals would be refunded.
Upon seeing a doctor, I was diagnosed with type 2 Diabetes, which had gone undetected until now and that he would not sign my D.O.T. medical card until my blood sugar was under control.
At this point I spoke with Mrs. Lancaster about my situation and she assured me that I could return to finish my training at any time when the disease was under control. I again asked about a refund and was told to talk to Mr. Jeff Fischer (V.P.) about it. I tried to contact Mr. Fischer (via voice mail) several times the first week of December. No messages were returned.
After a time I thought my blood sugar was under control and expressed a desire to continue my training.
It was not.
In addition to a crippling disease, I am now faced with a crippling debt. All further attempts to contact Mr. Fischer have either not been received (via voice mail) or ignored.
I would not understand or condone this childlike behavior if I had simply quit for personal reasons(!). And due to health reasons is un-thinkable, especially from a fellow veteran and "warrior" who claims to be an officer in the National guard.
I did not choose to have this disease. I cannot obtain a CDL license. MTC is forcing me to seek other venues to avoid bankruptcy and save my credit rating.
Avoid this Company, and avoid using the transportation companys who they endorse. PAM, Star, Stevens, Hogan, Werner and TMC.

This information needs to be removed. The person he was trying to contac been deployed to Iraq. MTC has been training truck drivers for 13 years and has a great repuation in the trucking industry and wants to make sure people that come into the program can go to work. If we can't place them we don't allow them to continue training.

Recieved the tuition money (less lodging and cost of D.O.T. physical)and I have deposited it. Apparently my problem with contacting Mr.Fischer is that he has been deployed to Iraq...
Why no-one updated his Voice mail? I don't know...I think communcations could have been better at BOTH ends.
My deepest apologies go out to him and his family...
For this reason and this reason alone I am requesting that this Ripoff report be pulled from this website.

First, consider this. You found out you had diabetes earlier than you would have found out on your own. The sooner you begin treatment, the sooner you can start to control the blood vessel and nerve damage that the disease causes.
On the other hand, if you can't bring the disease under control with medication, you will never be allowed to drive. People using insulin are not given a CDL. I think the use of pills is allowed.
You deserve a refund for all unused money. Don't screw around. Send them one demand letter. Then serve them with a small claims notice. That usually wakes up even the most determined frauds.
Go to court. Provide an accounting of the money you spent on lodging and one day of services. I don't care what their contract says, you will get a judgment for the unused portion.
Oh, by the way, I was a driver. Read some of the reports on the trucking companies here. This whole thing might just be a blessing in disguise.
