I purchased 2 sets of Chrome Sperzel tuners for guitars from catalogue retailer Music123. What I received were the satin, also called brushed or matte. I returned them after explaining to the customer service agent what I ordered and how the options listed were Gold, Black or Chrome. She was pleasant but told me the Satin was all I could get. I asked for a supervisor who told me that "Satin is what we call Chrome." I mentioned that the entire rest of the guitar- tuner-buying- world makes a distinction between the two and by his logic, if I ordered a blue guitar and it arrived in red, he might say "Well, that's what we call blue." He offered to sell me graduated Sperzel tuners but I'd have to pay the difference of $30. The only difference from those and what I bought were that mine were not graduated, meaning each string post is the same height as opposed to each one being slightly taller than the previous one. He said," Correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't graduated mean part chrome and part satin?" I corrected him. I had a 25% discount due to buying a gift certificate for a deal they ran at Christmas and he didn't want to upgrade me at no charge. I understand, I just want the one's I bought in chrome and it appears that this is not possible. I contacted Cust. Serv. through the website e-mail and this agent made the upgrade for me. I told him that even doing that , I might still get Satin if their version of "Chrome" was mis-labeled throughout the Sperzel line . Well, that's what I got! Satin effing chrome! Finally, I had enough and e-mailed Sperzel directly. A wonderful person there said she'll exchange them for the correct one's but it will cost me $14 in postage. Sold ! Anything to not have to deal with people who can't read the side of a box. Of course I lose most of the savings from the 25% discount but at least I'll have the one's I want. I was told that Music123 will change their false representation of "Chrome" to reflect "Satin" but it lost a long-time customer. I know that Chrome tuner's are the biggest selling of all. Every guitar you buy pretty much has them, so I find it hard to believe that they don't have Chrome as we know it at Music123. I'm done with Music123 and all their permutations--Guitar Center , Musician's Friend etc. From now on I'll stick with my local , privately owned music stores or e-bay.
