National Enterprise Systems has been calling my mother for months. Mom is 80 yrs old and lives alone. The company claims they are trying to reach a relative of my mom.
Mom has given them the relative's phone number several times and asked National Enterprise to quit calling her. They continue to call her stating they don't have the relative's number and/or the relative won't call them back.
National Enterprise is now calling mom multiple times in one day and becoming rude and nasty to her on the phone demanding the phone number they want. Mom won't give it to them again.
I have called the company myself asking them to quit calling my mother. They tried to find out if I knew about the money owed by the relative. I don't, but I wouldn't tell them if I did. They told me they have removed my mom's number from their calling list, yet the calls continue.
I have researched this company and found many, many complaints against them filed with the BBB. I also have filed a complaint. My next step will be to have the phone company track these calls to my mom so we can file harrassment charges.

STAY OFF THE PHONE .... HANDLE EVERYTHING IN WRITING ...
AUTHOR: P - (U.S.A.)

GENERAL INFORMATION FROM VARIOUS SITES ON DEALING WITH COLLECTION AGENCY'S
Provide written notificatin to them that the relative DOES NOT LIVE AT THIS ADDRESS.
YOU NOR YOUR MOTHER ARE UNDER ANY OBLIGATION TO PROVIDE THE RELATIVES CURRENT ADDRESS ... Don't do their job of skip tracing for them. PERIOD ..
Tell them in the written UNSIGNED LETTER that if they persist in contacting you/your mother you will file suite against them citing FDCPA laws (below.) Feel free to cut and paste this into your letter. It came from (((ROR REDACTED LINK FOR SECURITY PURPOSES)))another consumer advocate agency ...
The FDCPA says a debt collector may contact someone other than the debtor, but only to learn the location of the debtor. Usually this contact can be made only once, unless the collector has reason to believe the person has new information.
If you are a relative or roommate, a debt collector who contacts you repeatedly also violates your privacy. Excessive contact may be considered a form of harassment. You should be able to stop contact by writing to the debt collector. For an example of what to say if you are the alleged debtor and want to cease calls to you or if the debt is someone else's and a collector is contacting you about it, see sample letters 4 or 6 at Attachment B,
If the collector persists in contacting you, discloses details about the other person's debt, or if the collector's actions have been abusive or threatening, you should complain to the appropriate government agency and seek legal advice. The important thing to remember is that you have the same rights as the debtor, including the right to bring an action for any of the violations described here. For further discussion, see Part 7.
