My Mother has the beginning of Alheizmer's and sometimes doesn't remember why or what she has ordered.  This company had sent her a "winning notice" and a phone number to call so she could select how she wanted her payments of her winning.

Upon calling, they sold her over $300.00 worth of magazines!  Most of them, she did not even like or read.  They sold her Cosmo,  Seventeen, Forbes, Men's Journal, ESPN, and approximately 5 other magazines.  Some of the magazines were for 4 years!

They asked for her Visa number, which she gave them and they proceeded to charge $146.00 for the 1st installment.  The second installment was due at a later date.

They are some fast talkers that make it sound so wonderful, that they just can't say no.  This company should be ashamed of their sales department!

We happened to call them, explaining the situation, and they "supposedly" credited her credit card.

I can assure you, that we will be checking her statement and looking for a credit.

I will update this as soon as we receive the credit.

#1 UPDATE EX-employee responds

I worked for National Magazine Exchange-they ARE a SCAM!!!!

AUTHOR: Mary - ()

POSTED: Friday, March 07, 2014

First of all, sorry this happened to you.  I worked for National Magazine Exchange (NME) for 1 day and I just wanted to confirm that this place is a COMPLETE SCAM!!!  It made me sick of the tactics they use to trick people into giving them their debit and credit cards under the false guise of "receiving a good deal on a magazine".  They teach sales agents how you treat customers rudely and ignore them repeatedly saying "no" to their completely lie filled scripts.  Please a file a BBB complaint against NME so we can get this place shut down.  Most of the workers there are homeless and completely desperate and can't get jobs anywhere else so they have to resort to scamming customers.  The trainers teach sales agents there to "leave your morals and ethics at the door" when you work there.  It's sickening and I am a good person and couldn't scam people like that.
