Received a letter with American Express LOGO in upper left corner. Google of PO Bo x lists Nationwide Credit 2015 Vaughn Road Building 400 Kennesaw, GA 30144 Fax number: 678-784-1844. Opening the letter has the AMEX logo. Giving me the impression that this letter is in fact from AMEX only to find that this COLLECTION company is using a "Deceptive Practice" to give me the first impression that this letter is from AMEX. After reading the ENTIRE Document do I not see ONE word or disclaimer that they are Nationwide. There is a "Signature" of a "M GHAZAVI" director of Collections. This is the only indiction that this is from a collection agency.

OK They can call one time however, Is it illegal or a violation for a person from XYZ Collection company to "misrepresent" themselves on the phone? Such as the person from Nationwide Credit stated " I am with American Express and I am calling to update your home address" Thats an untrue statement. He lied to me on the phone.. His company may have purchased an alledged debt from AMEX but he is NOT employed by AMEX. Thats a deceptive practice is it not? This company should be fined for thier employee's statements.

From the FTC's website:
"A debt collector also may not contact you at work if the collector knows that your employer disapproves of such contacts."
So until they know, they can call you at work.

Other than that I agree with what the other posters have said.

I googled the phone number as John suggested. Prior to getting my notice from "AMEX" or as I found out Nationwide Credit THIS male subject, WHO ID SELF AS ADWADI ,WANTED TO UPDATE MY HOME ADDRESS. 1ST WHEN I HAD AN AMEX CARD I DID NOT WORK AT WHERE I WORK NOW SO I HAVE NO IDEA HOW THIS PERSON GOT OR CALLED THIS NUMBER. I also informed him he was in violation of laws forbidding him to contact persons at work for the purpose of collections.
