I moved from an apartment complex in 2011, my lease was completed successfully, my final walk-thru was approved by the complex manager and I received a refund on my security deposit. The new apartment complex I moved to contacted the managment of Terra Bella and had them fax over confirmation that I successfully completed my lease and they also reported the final inspection results to them before I could move in.  Of course, being that this happened over 3yrs ago, I did not keep my move out paperwork but I do have a witness that was with me during the final inspection and move out process.  Also, the first move I made that apartment complex has since been sold and I am not able to connect with them to get a copy of that paperwork.  I did not think I would need to keep the paperwork and I have moved 3x to 3 different complexes since then without any issues.

Today, 3yrs later.  I checked my credit report and NCC Business Services has placed a $601 charge in collections as of 2014 for Stonemark Properties for Terra Bella Apartments.

I contacted the apartment complex today and was told they recently bought the complex in Aug 2014 from Stonemark Corporation and they do not have any records from previous tenents on file.

I contacted Stonemark and left them a voicemail, waiting on a response.

I contacted NCC, they wanted me to provide all my updated contact information to them before they would answer any of my questions, which I refused to do because the charges are not valid and fradulent.  How can I get them off my credit report?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

If I were in your shoes, I would first send a written letter to the furnisher of the information to remove the deliquency off your report. They admitted they had no records so how can they charge you for something that happened with no records? This letter is typically referred to as a 623 letter to the collections agency (research it).

If they fail to remove the collection immediately, take them to small claims court. Looks like the seller of the apartment complex tried to beef up their receiveables by making past tenants "owe" funds. In commercial sales the value of the property is tied to receiveables. You will need to do something right away, especially if the collecitons agency doesn't remove the collection from your report. Good luck.
