You did authorize them to take the payment. In their Terms & Conditions, Your Responsibilities section it states that once you've set up a payment option (giving your card number) that you agree they need no further permission from you to authorize them to take any payments via that option. So when you used the card the first time, you agreed to let them use it each time.
