I approached North American Power (NAP) as an alternative distributor of electric service as their advertized rate was quoted at $.09/KWK. I am on the Atlantic City power network.

I called and signed up with nAP for electric distribution services as an alternative to Atlantic City Electric's rate. Over the next three years, as oil plunged in value to below $50/BBL I continued to notice the NAP electric distribution charges continued to climb up. In fact they climbed from $.09/kWH to $,6/KWH.

I tried to reach NAP some months ago but the phone was alwayd busy. Finally at $$.6/KWH I called again duringmy day-time work hours to ask how my rate had climbed from $.09/KWY to now $.16/KWY. A calculayed 60% increase over three years when oil itself was dropping at record pace and at $50/BBL. The NAP rep on the phone looked at my file and noted I was on a "variable rate" which moved with the market. I noted I would never sign for variable rate and how or when was that changed? No answer. Why was the variable rate climbing at 60% when oil, a major source of power and energy was dropping at record pace to then $50/BBL. Oil in now at $30/BBL just weeks later. No answer.

I advised I wanted to terminate my contract with NAP. At that time I was offered to continue at the then "fixed" rate of $.09/KWY. I declined as I noted I had no assurances NAP would not in time switch me back to their climbing variable rate.

I then advised Atlantic City Electric I wanted back in on their distribution service and their rate was $.09/KWH. I was compelled to pay off the final monthly distribution chage owed to NAP of $101.00 in January 2016. That i have done this day and want to share my experience with NAP's contracted distribution rate. They seemingly move you off the fixed rate to their more volitile variable rates seemingly without knowledge to their customers.
