We had the alarm installed 9/05. Don't use it much, really only when we leave town as one of us is almost always home. Left for Ireland in Feb. alarm would not arm. PISSED OFF. repair guy came to house, alarm not fixed. will not arm, fire alarm goes off for NO reason TWICE! Repair guy comes out again.. not fixed. Phone ringing comes through alarm pad VERY LOUD, tech says he doesn't know why and can't fix it. Try to alarm house again to go to California in Oct., won't alarm. Stop payments to alarm company. They are threateneing to send us to collections. Alarm still does not work, phone still rings through alarm pad. Taking company to Superior court in Washington... anyone want to join? WOuld be interested in hearing from other Northstar clients having trouble with their alarm system!

easy fix

Melissa,
It sounds like the system you have is a Honeywell Lynx. Nice system but anything can look bad when installed by the wrong person.
Enter your master code and hit the off button then do it again.
Hit the * button TWICE and when the alarm speaks it will tell you what is wrong.
It should say "disarmed not ready to arm, fault ________"
If that fault is caused by a door or window then bypass that zone by entering your master code followed by 6 and the number of the zone
Ex. master code of 1234 and trouble on Zone 02 enter 1234602
That would bypass the troubled zone.
If the zone is the fire detector then tell the tech to check what LOOP # the smoke detector is enrolled as. It could have been enrolled improperly OR it was triggered and needs to be reset. In some instances it is caused by the smoke detector being removed from the base so again it would need to be reset.

Now to shut the ringing off simply hit # 2 then the Aux key. That will shut off the ringer.
